Super Duper Branko Strupar
3 minutes ago, The College Dropout said: He really wanted his goal. And he fought for his assist. The way he thought and fought for the penalty last week with quick thinking. I think this is it for me, he has so much hunger seemingly every time he's on the pitch. His pace and directness is going to be huge in getting those goals we had been lacking from our wingers without Miggy. He showed it in his limited minutes last year tbf but he was always going need time to condition and understand. He's come from a pretty closed minded "fight" mentality under Frank et al at Everton, in to a fight and be smart mentality here. He's been given lots more thinking to do whilst keeping the intensity (and maybe channelling it better) and he's handled it brilliantly in a short space of time imo. Yes there are parts to his game he doesn't have yet, but his basics are very good. Pace, strength, directness, shooting ability (more shown for U21s but starting to show it here now too), 2 footedness. He also seems more of a team player now already and for a 22 year old it's an impressive improvement in not very long. Price tag for a young U21 international might have been a bit English premium, but I think when you look at someone like MGW as well you understand why. MGW has had more time but I have every confidence Gordon will justify that initially seemingly inflated price tag as well as he has.
The College Dropout
Good post. MGW also had more experience of pro football. He’s had longer to put it all together. Gordon is putting it together now.
The Bonk
@Maineblue you were right, not only with the goal, but his performance overall. The kid is alright! I’m so happy for Gordon, he’s taken his opportunity here and built on his raw talent. Loved him gan radge first half on that challenge on Longstaff resulting in the yellow. Trips had to tell him to back off.
TheBrownBottle
While the posts about his looks were bad crack, I don’t think it’s fair to have a go at those who thought he would be a bad signing at the time. All just opinion, and we’ve all been wrong before. (I’ll just add here that I wasn’t one of them )

SiLvOR
Really is starting to live up to the hype the documentary afforded him. £45M or whatever it was is gonna look a bargain when it's all said and done, I reckon

It's hardly ever just a calmly stated opinion, and so when it backfires you deserve to get cooked!

People talk on the internet like they do in the pub post-match - hyperbole sets in. If everything I'd said in a pub post-match was recorded and written up on the internet, I wouldn't be able to defend it in the cold light of day. Don't get me wrong, I also don't doubt that if the lad had been shite there would be plenty of 'I told you so's.
toon25
His best position is undoubtedly on the left. One of the best performances I've seen in many years today. Every time he had the ball, something happened. Just brilliant

(I’ll just add here that I wasn’t one of them ) Having an opinion on a signing is normal, and we as fans don't always love every signing, it's the utter shredding the lad took from a lot of posters before he'd even kicked a ball. That's without mentioning the complete lack of trust it showed in EH and the recruitment team when all they've done is deliver signings and players who have moved us on several levels. Vinny Green Balls
For me it was the lack of compassion and empathy. So it goes almost entirely down to the personal attacks.
Crayola Kid
I wasn’t keen when we were said be interested, in fact I was confused that first Chelsea then us were trying to buy him (for big ££) but that’s long gone, he’s fantastic. I just saw a player full of piss and wind in an aggressive counter attacking Everton side but he’s shown himself to be so much more. The U21 tournament was an eye opener and he carried on when he came back to us, as people have said above he’s currently one of our best players. He’s fast, skilful, clever and committed but his best attribute for me right now is his competitiveness. He plays like he hates the opposition, and that’s what winners do. I really hope we get his best years, he’s only 22 and will surely get better and better
Mahoneys Tache
Just watched his interview on match of the day. What a good lad he came across as. I enjoyed his response to the dig at Sheffield United. Put the smarmy fuck right in his place.
