You can’t push someone to the floor by their head and expect anything else. For someone who prides himself on his mentality, preparation for games etc, it was a truly idiotic moment that he’ll regret his whole career.

 

Can only hope he learns from it and comes back with a point to prove.

Personally think it was a borderline sending off, and one i'd always think was slightly harsh, but at the same time I have no issues with.

 

I do have some sympathy for him in that a single, almost reflex like moment has cost him the biggest game of his club career, and thats sad for any player, but that being said he did a silly thing and needs to take his medicine and learn from it.

They need to sort out the three game shit. At least reduce it to two. In almost every case it's totally disproportionate.

All red cards should be an automatic one game ban that is then assessed to see if it warrants more. Take Bruno's red in the Carabao Cup two years ago, yes it was probably a red card because it went slightly high but to then miss three games as a result of it was ridiculous when it was just an honest tackle that was a split second mistimed.

I wouldn’t demand a red card for that nor expect one unless it was in his face. Both shouldve got a yellow each.

I think it could take into account how much of the current game you missed as well.
 

It’s lose-lose to ban people, for the fans and the game. I’d guess something like 75% of red cards are for accidents. 

The bans for yellows are over top as well.

Not saying people should be griefing him on his personal SM platforms but a few aggrieved posts on an online forum are nothing.

 

It was a boneheaded move on his part with a cup final looming.

It was a red and he will be gutted especially with Trent supposedly out.

 

Mad to think he's been here for just over two years and has missed out on two cup finals! Missed out in 2023 due to playing 53 mins vs Bournemouth in a 4-1 defeat!

Yep.  ‘Supporting’ players isn’t sticking anonymous posts on an internet forum.  I’ve never seen how that qualifies as ‘support’.  Anyone giving the lad grief at the match, away from the pitch or on social media deserves criticism - it doesn’t help.  But if the player decides to search for a Newcastle supporter’s online forum, then searches for his own name, I’m not sure he should be too surprised that he might find some criticism.  But he’d have to seek it out in the first place.
