They’re being investigated for breaches during Abramovich's time found by Boehley's lot when going through the books. Given they’ve found wrongdoing themselves and have fessed up, surely they have to receive some sort of punishment? They might be pushing for leniency given change in ownership and honesty, but given the recent punish, ents doled out, they can’t get off Scot free.

Surely they're screwed in general soon too, if they don’t get back into the CL soon too I’d imagine

It was the Cyprus confidential that unearth the dodgy third party dealings, Chelsea just tried to get in before them to save face and perhaps sway it a bit there way.

No club’s is.  Leveraged buy-outs are the norm in the stock market and has been equally treated as the norm in football.

Yep. debt is good if yer a billionaire, and a yank. City fan. love your place. Soz with the score. Our owners are now murderers. Always the same bastard clubs. United, Arsenal and Liverpool.

I can see that, but the media was making it seem like we had to sell a key player BECAUSE of that £74m loss, and implying that this loss has a huge impact. Not sure if that loss in isolation would be the reason if it's nearly 3 years ago and will get dropped in july.

Got you.  Yeah, they’ve got that wrong - it’s more that it means we’re snookered this month.  Once 21/22 drops off we’ve got wriggle room again.

Yeah, the PL are much happier with debt than investment.  Which just further proves that the FFP regs are not there to stop clubs going ‘pop’

Let's hope both of those clubs have the fucking book thrown at them (it won't be).

What will they do? Declare Man City's previous silverware exploits null and void? Because if they are serious, that's what they should do.

I know it sounds daft but the penny has just dropped with your explanation!

If anybody bought any other business and had the funds to grow their company there would be no legal rule to stop them??

Yet our owners are unable to invest their money, which even at the going rate, would drop funds into other clubs and gradually feed money down the leagues (minus agent fees !)

If City are found guilty they have the nuclear option………challenge FFP in Court, if it’s shown to be a breach of Competition Law then move to have the FFP charges dismissed.

It still has an impact, and we’ll likely be running a sizeable loss this year too, and next year’s income is unlikely to grow at all.  I know everyone has been excited by the size of the growth so far, but the reality is that the growth was really down to how badly Ashley ran the club - that was easy.  It isn’t easy to see how much more growth is achievable without success on the pitch.

There will be room again in the summer to spend, but nothing like what you’d want to push on.  Selling a player for big money would allow us to fill the squad with more quality.

The other unsaid thing is that our current big names aren’t here to finish mid table.  They’ll be off if a big offer comes their way.

We will have the champions league money and the sela sponsorship as well as a few other sponsorships recently announced. Year after we will have the adidas deal and the fan zone coming into play, so the revenue increases will again be still quite significant the next two years.

The whole fucking FFP and PSR shit is fucking nonsense man. Restrictive rules made to keep the top teams happy as long as possible and every club below them who’s agreed with it are absolute idiot lemmings.

The adidas deal next year will be balanced out by the loss of CL revenue.  The Sela deal isn’t worth megabucks.  We’ll go over £300m turnover this season and likely the same next, but as things stand I doubt we’ll see growth next year unless some trees start being pulled up.

We were one of them when owned by the FCB.

Yeah you’d struggle to find many industries which turn their nose up to investment.

Training ground/kit sponsor are a must and renaming the stadium will have to happen.

It’s an easier thing to do if the stadium gets a redevelopment. New look/feel and new name.

Chelsea haven’t breached the rules as yet though.

Their problems are coming further down the line - shitloads on amortised contracts for players who aren’t worth close to what they paid for them.  Their wriggle-room will end quickly; they also can’t be finishing mid table forever or else those lucrative commercials start to become less lucrative

There are some allegations against Chelsea dating back a few years that came out recently that suggest they made a number of off-book payments linked to transfers, getting around FFP rules by simply having another linked company pay an agent, etc.  If they were to be found guilty of those allegations they'd be massively fucked as it would be seen not just as an accounting error that led to overspending but it would show that they deliberately went out of their way to hide transactions.  HMRC would probably be very interested too.

Seka deal they reckon is over 20 million (possibly 25 million), the champions league money will be included in next years accounts. A 50 million increase is still quite significant for next year. The club will be adding other sponsorship within the next few years also. Again don't agree with what you're saying.

I’m surprised that UK competition regulators aren’t looking at FFP and FMV.

Our government regulators are fucking shit. Look at OFGEM in the last 18 months. The energy companies basically paid the CEO to allow them to continue ripping off customers despite global energy prices decreasing and falling back in line. People up to and including the middle class suddenly brought into the poverty line as a result and the government didn’t give a single fuck.

Recently just seen how it’s took a TV drama to highlight the Post Office scandal for the government to make a comment on it.

As for football, the government couldn’t care less about it. The whole shit about introducing a regulator is just lip service to try and get football fans onside knowing they are in for an absolute hammering at the next election. If it wasn’t football being massively positive for the economy, every single one of the Rugby supporting Oxbridge fuckers would be happy to see the sport banned.

There is absolutely no reason for any regulator to be looking at the likes of FFP, when it’s basically only Newcastle fans, Aston Villa fans, Everton fans, and to a lesser extent Man City fans who are unhappy about it. The rest of the football community in this country is fucking happy with FFP, either their team is in the top 6 and they are protected, or they are outside it and are disillusioned enough to think that it helps them, or are will-fully happy never ever competing.

I doubt it. The Premier League is the golden goose and Chelsea one of Britain's most prestigious parts of London. Whatever happened under previous ownership probably died there. Liverpool copped a fair deal in a similar manner.

So they've broke the rules of ffp and the powers that be give them points deductions and risk relegating these clubs which In turn could destroy the clubs if the owners decide to sell up and leave them in a mess. I thought it was brought in to stop clubs going into ruin.

I think it’s been mentioned that we are also taking back control of retail at the same time as binning off Castore. If they play their cards right and actually stock the club shop with stuff to buy, unlike Castore, that could also end up being another increased source of income too.
