The rules now have teeth so obviously the behaviour has changed. They have started to have teeth because the PL are trying to show they don’t need to be independently regulated as that’s the last thing they want. timeEd32
Six clubs earned more money from overseas TV than domestic. Remarkable how far that has come and, while growth will slow over the next decade of two, it's almost certainly going to grow faster than the domestic money. Very close to a tipping point there. Also notable in there is £2.2m is often the figure used per league place, but when you add domestic and overseas it's actually a little over £3m now. There is big money in the merit payments. We earned almost £25m more than Chelsea last season. Or, said another way, if we end up 10th or 11th this season due to injuries it would effectively wipe out the gains from Sela compared to last season. TRC
Pretty genius loophole Aston Villa are abusing with Cameron Archer. Have to buy him back if Sheff United go down, get more money if they stay up. So +20m on the accounts for 2023, then amortisation when they buy him back and able to sell him.

Shearer was the last world class player to come through North of the M62 (North East & Scotland). Since Shearer it's been a virtual wasteland, absolute no comparison to what went before. On a different note, people talk about the "bubble" bursting in football, is this window what it looks like? Or at least the the first step? Well all north east academies have been dreadful for decades. Not sure you can blame the talent pool.

But what a farce this is. Dual ownership of a player like they had in Italy could be an avenue going forward to get around some of this.

It would only be a loophole if they were to keep him or sell him for a bigger profit.
Armchair Pundit
Maybe they could have a guarantor setup where, if possible, a club can spend what they like if the full cost of the purchase is up front and fully paid to the end of the contract (or the amount is held in trust). As long as the running of the club itself is covered by commercial income and can't be hit by having to pay for outstanding crazy wages, etc if an owner goes bust. Would that work? I can't see it being any different from any other club from back in the day that had rich owners and did well, other than there being less long term risk. ... of course, I could be over simplifying things and not taking other legalities into account

FloydianMag
FIFA talking about algorithms for transfer fees……I wonder which clubs will benefit from that?? https://x.com/telefootball/status/1753440638857826564?s=61&t=Yt8DTJJ-7Jh_ndgpdGSFKQ

They don't have to be that level, but producing so few players even of the level of Carrick, Henderson, Robertson, Tierney, even Ryan Gauld (was supposed to be Scottish Messi and somehow became the Scottish Ali Dia) etc shows how bad its been.
