Big River Posted Friday at 12:17 Share Posted Friday at 12:17 would make sense if the likes of a Dortmund are sniffing about. the kid is a total baller no chance we'll sell him though, all it takes is one injury and he's starting games in the CL again. Dr.Spaceman Posted Friday at 12:20 Share Posted Friday at 12:20 I'd sell for the right money, could save us having to sell Bruno, Isak or Tonali. Would rather keep the lot like.

However the point kinda still stands in that he's basically an extra first team player that doesn't need to be named in the squad. If Longstaff goes we're going to have a 21 man squad in the CL - so having Miley around as an extra player is very useful. We're even thin on the ground for U21 players as all the ones we've signed in last couple of years can't be registered as youth players in Europe. Chris_R Posted Friday at 12:55 Share Posted Friday at 12:55 Constantly baffled at people basically selling Longstaff now. Sure he's not a starter, but can any of you explain who our 5 over21 homegrown players are who we can register for the CL next year? Longstaff is 1, Gillespie another I think? Then after that? We must register 4, so unless there's 5 on the books I can't see how we let Longstaff go. We'll have to leave blank squad spaces for our (presumed) CL campaign. Madness. Hardly baffling that people want to sell one of our worst players mind. It certainly seems the club are more than open to him going as well.
ponsaelius Posted Friday at 12:58 Share Posted Friday at 12:58 It's four not five that you must name. And if Longstaff goes we will have zero, as Gillespie is not home grown. So we will have to name a 21 man squad (with four empty spaces) if Longstaff goes - but Miley would not need to be named so would effectively be a 22 man squad. It's not ideal but I don't think the club will prioritise keeping players for those purposes over getting fees for players who aren't good enough long term tbh. Have you been on the phone to Mitchell? I mean he might well go. He might not. Just seems like it'll leave us short of cover for a vital competition next year. We complain about our bench at the moment, next year we might have actual empty seats on it.
Weezertron Posted Friday at 13:04 Share Posted Friday at 13:04 The club still needs to improve bringing through youth in a meaningful way. Felt like Elliot Anderson got blooded into the team extremely slowly, and then off he went to prove he could start games regularly. Miley used only when injuries are piling high. Not meant to be highly negative. The club is doing great work in all other aspects. But still have areas of improvement.

duo Posted Friday at 13:25 Share Posted Friday at 13:25 I can't see us selling Miley or loaning him out - we've already Europe next season so he'll be needed. Longstaff looks likely to go so we'll not sell two CMs.

Super Duper Branko Strupar Posted Friday at 14:38 Share Posted Friday at 14:38 He's like our 4th best CM and the club know it.
thomas Posted Friday at 15:05 Share Posted Friday at 15:05 (edited) i have this likely very stupid but romantic notion that he's going to be here for the next 15 years as our michael ballack. need to cycle him on creatine and bulk up some in the offseason. Joelinton7 Posted Friday at 16:41 Share Posted Friday at 16:41 I wonder if the club sell him for say £30m if it means getting a purple in and helping our PSR prospects. I would be gutted but this is the world we live in.
Weezertron Posted Friday at 17:19 Share Posted Friday at 17:19 Selling him for 30million would suggest Miley is/will be a purple. We have to keep SOME of our youth, otherwise we're Chelsea. Once Burn, Longstaff and at a push Murphy retire/leave - there goes our geordie spine that I think we all agree was pivotal in our recent success/good vibes. Ameritoon Posted Friday at 17:25 Share Posted Friday at 17:25 I would absolutely hate to sell him, especially after losing Anderson. Looks like the real deal imo and only 18 years old and. He'll have plenty of opportunities to play next season
Unlucky Luque Posted Friday at 17:38 Share Posted Friday at 17:38 If we have to sell him to retain a purple, I’d rather sell Bruno over Miley tbh. I love Bruno to bits, but he has no unfinished business here anymore as far as I’m concerned. We have to look to the future, and Miley’s ceiling could be anything. In fact I’d sell anyone bar Isak, Tonali, and Hall over Miley.

Weezertron Posted Friday at 18:03 Share Posted Friday at 18:03 We should guarantee him games next season if he’s concerned. not only when the squad is fucked with injuries.
