It’s easy forget he’s actually 18 like, since he’s played some games for us and is much more involved in the team than any normal kid would be.

The x-factor bit sticks in my mind like. Can't work it out, Miley plays in a holding role but despite that has played quite a few passes that have had the crowd loving it, including assists, line splitting passes, and he's scored a few times too. All at Premier League and Champions League level. He was fantastic away to PSG especially. And he's 18 with loads to learn.

I think home grown with value while we still navigate the PSR shite will always come about prospect of selling. Howe himself said regards Anderson albeit paraphrasing here clubs are rewarded financially from selling the local academy products. Ultimately he may struggle here to break through to get the minutes needed to push his development and ultimately be sold.

However we aren't there yet surely out of the "extra" squad in midfield we have longstaff and willock are first to go. Depending on injuries later in his career big Joe could also be sold down the line plenty of opportunity yet.

The biggest downside of no Europe and a very good first 11 means we struggle to give meaningful minutes to our good enough to play but not good enough to take the starting spot.

Hoping that if we do get Europe next year (I know we have conference but its qualifier only, I believe) we mange to get Europe again come the end of the following season. Extra games are a drain on a smaller squad but season on season Europe is how clubs status and finances start to keep pace with ambition. Plus gives squad members meaningful minutes.

Right now it's a win win he's young and developing if it works out it has the potential to save us 40/50/60m in the future recruitment if it fails the prices of young players with potential could still get us 20/30m in the future of pure profit to invest again.

Catching up on this. Some of the takes on here are crazy to me.

I'll stand by this, Miley will be a top Premier League midfielder over the next few season. He has everything needed, passing range, techique, finishing, a good engine, he's deceptively quick, and the game seems to slow down around him when he gets the ball, and one of the best managers to help him get there.

He's captained above his age at England as well, which says a lot.

This isn't just because he came through our academy, it's because he looks that good. My normal worry would be if his head isn't in it and he goes off the rails, but he also seems to be a very calm and quiet personality. So that takes that worry away.

Just to put the Miley leaving/going out on loan bollocks to bed, just because he doesn’t get involved enough in the dying stages of a piss easy 3-0 win against one of the shite-ist teams you’ll ever see.

Quotes from Eddie “Lewis is absolutely pivotal to our future here. From my perspective, he’s going absolutely nowhere. We want to build the team with him in it for many many years.”

I would do a sale with an auto buyback clause like Madrid do. For the whole 4 year contract or whatever. Madrid did that with Carvajal, Morata, Odegaard among others. Think Madrid had a buy-back clause for Kubo + a 50% sell-on clause, meaning the buy back was half price. We don't have their leverage mind.

But I wouldn't sell under any other circumstances.

You've said this before but I'm not sure why the club we're selling to would agree to that

Yeh we lack leverage and he’s a bit young. £15m to a promoted club maybe.

The Madrid hack is the fees received are fairly low for what tends to be high ceiling players.

And how much for the buy back?

No idea. Would have to be more init.

I feel like Villa have bought and resold Philogene lad a lot. It’s been bad for us career. The Madrid way is better for their development - getting at least a couple seasons with the same team.

The idea of letting go of the most promising kid we’ve had for decades is mental. And in the same breath people complain about selling Anderson.

It would have to be a lot more for the team buying him to even consider it

They aren't going to buy him for £15mil unless there's something like a £40 million buy back clause

Unless we're desperate for PSR cash we shouldn't be selling him

If we are planning on Champions League football next season, then there should be plenty of first team opportunities for him

The Philogene deal was buying him back for the same price if relegated automatically. Or something like that

Philogene was a standout player in the Champ though.

Im going to keep banging the Miley drum. Comes on after very few minutes this season, doesnt force anything, keeps the ball, a few very nice passes, and makes pretty much all the correct decisions.

Next season will be the full breakout season.

I agree that he looks very tidy on the ball, hopefully he will grow into the midfield role and dominate in the future. looks like the type of player who can dominate the tempo of the match when he wants to..
