  1. 1. Would you want a large singing/standing section at St James' Park?

    • Yes. I'm an existing season ticket holder and I would want to be a part of it

    • Yes. I'm an existing season ticket holder but wouldn't want to be part of it, but I would move to a seat somewhere else if the singing section was to be where I currently sit....as long as I was happy with the new seat.

    • No. The atmosphere is fine as it is.

    • No. The atmosphere needs to improve but this isn't the answer.

    • Yes. I'm just a member at the moment but would want one in the singing section.

    • Yes. I'm just a member at the moment but would want a season ticket in a non-singing section. But a singing section needs to happen to let people who want to sing be together

in many areas of the stadium, if you decide to sing and chant then the people next to you will tell you to pipe down and shut the fuck up because they've been sat in those seats for 25 years and you haven't

Never in my 60 odd years of going to St James dd I hear a Newcastle Supporter tell another one to STFU. It's three years since I gave up my season ticket, surely things haven't changed that much

Got asked to sit down on Tuesday night as I was standing up waiting for Schar to take his penalty. Usually I would have told the miserable cunt to fuck off because he'd be likely standing up in a minute anyway when we go 1-0 up but as I had the bairn with me I restrained myself.

Imagine my shock when he did score and around 50% of the people around me remained seated. Didn't even celebrate the goal. They were OK to stand literally 30 seconds later mind when they were off for their HT piss/pint.

This was the Gallowgate End by the way. Not the Platinum Club or the East Stand.

I was being facetious

In reality the more entitled ST holders (of which there's many) will often tell people to sit down even in moments of high drama and they'll roll their eyes and huff & puff if people try to join in with any songs, or god forbid, start a chant

Loudly slagging off Dan Burn or Sean Longstaff will be received with gusto though. Then you're talking their language

There’s arguments on both sides for standing up I guess. More debatable than telling you to stop singing anyway.

I normally watch those moments either perched on the back of my seat or in a half crouch so I don’t block the person behind me

I'm a stander, so I either go in safe standing, or find a seat on the back row of a block so I can stand without spoiling anyone's view

But I've heard "siiiiiiiiiiit downnnnnnnn" being shouted at people who were actually sat down for most of the game and they only stood up as a reaction to something major happening on the pitch

Shame the club seem really reluctant to add more safe standing, when the current area has the best atmosphere in the ground by miles

A new low even by our current standards.

The least ive ever seen a goal celebrated like. It was quite pathetic.

I was stood at the back of the Gallowgate most of the game. Was better than sitting, thats for sure.

One of the reason I stopped going I found it more and more difficult to leap to my feet when we scored. My voice gives out after about 30 seconds of shouting. I miss it though, shouting at the telly isn't the same. In close matches I walk the floor (Good exercise). It will never be the same as pre seated stadiums. I think we need a bigger stadium so like minded fans can stand or sit together even if these means the stadium not being full every match.

Can forgive some at the cup games for not knowing the etiquette.

I know where you sit mate. Wasn't all that far from you. Middle tier so just above you and a bit along (block L).

I think you can spot me from space mate!

Quite surprised as I think a lot of the Gallowgate is season ticker holders and assume most would have bought theirs in case of Wemberlee!

Middle tier is mainly miserable bastards who've sat there since it was built in 1994. Were in their 30s and 40s back then but now in their 60s and 70s.

Not playing devil's advocate here but why do people, who buy tickets for an all seated stadium, think it's ok to stand thus impairing the views of other people who bought tickets in an all seated stadium?

Entitlement? Zero fucks given?

I mean I'd prefer to stand but that's not the point. Also, and I may be a freak of nature, I can sing while I'm sat down. Bizzare, really 😉

Tbf for something like a penalty when there's a 90% chance people are going to be celebrating a goal imminently it's pretty much commonplace to stand whilst it's being taken and that's everywhere.

Do you sit down when we score?

We have a safe standing area that is used when the away fans return tickets

Still get nackas telling people to sit down there as well

I know the type. They all, to a man, absolutely fucking loved Jack Colback putting in a slide tackle that conceded a throw in. You heard more out of them for that than you would for a goal.
