If someone in the middle/bottom rows stood i presume there's nowt those behind could do but stand as well? Anyone had any experience up there of it? Guess some want to stand but are too scared to cause any bother, can't blame them either because of the conflict it could cause..

If they want to sit then they are fully entitled to do so. It's not like we've got entire blocks of seats staying empty every game where they could otherwise be. This in-fighting and calling others out for not making noise or doing the wrong thing at the match is proper shit craic like.

Problem comes when the person directly in front wants to stand, and they can’t see anything…

This literally happened last season against Bournemouth to me though.

I posted about it at the time. I was on the front row and stood up and received the most ridiculous abuse for 20 minutes - eventually I just sat down as I couldn’t focus on the game.

Maybe that’s why plenty on here like to call others out about it?

This is an issue every single time we get returns from an away club.

We then put them on sale, but not specifically as safe standing, so people buy them initially, not knowing that’s what they are.

So you end up with a mix of people that want to stand and people that don’t, which obviously doesn’t work, and then everyone has to sit down.

The club need to either sell them as specifically safe standing, or sell them as normal seating with some kind of note that safe standing is not in use for that game. And the stewards in that area need to be told the craic one way or the other to try and prevent any disputes.

Yep need to be sold as standing tickets, tbh a big issue also is there is family closure up there so everyone nearby are sitting. Really daft that we don't have a standing section next to away fans.

I wasn’t aware that those blocks aren’t labelled safe standing on the site.

What an absolute shambles, it would take about a minute to sort in the system.

You're entitled to stand. Sorry like, it's not your fault if you know where you're sitting and they're oblivious.

So fucking what [emoji38]

As has been pointed out there is no signposting on the clubs website that states you must stand during the game if you purchase a ticket in that section.

Common sense should prevail, but it doesn’t

“Whoopsy, I’ve never been to SJP before and have accidentally bought a ticket in a section I never knew was Safe Standing, should I:

A) stand up

B) make everyone else sit down

I know, I’ll go for B”

And there’s plenty of kids in Gallowgate Safe Standing who seem to make it work and are able to enjoy the match, so the “kids can’t stand” argument doesn’t stand up to scrutiny either

The thing is I would imagine when you buy a ticket for the Strawberry Corner it’s actually labelled ’safe standing’, so you can’t say you didn’t know what you were getting.

I bet the first some of the folk who buy tickets in this area know about it being safe standing is when they walk out of the concourse. Aye, people should check pre-match, especially if they aren’t regular match attendees, but as a club, take the emphasis away from them and be pro-active.

Totally agree that the club should indicate it’s a safe standing area

But if you’ve never been to SJP and you didn’t know that it was Safe Standing up there and you get to your section and it suddenly dawns that you’re in Safe Standing, then just use some common sense and stand up

Other people who are aware of the ground layout will have bought tickets in that section knowing it was Safe Standing and they want to stand

Plus, if you’re capable of walking up to L7 you’re capable of standing for 90 mins

Everyone getting a ticket in the normal areas should be a season ticket holder or a member. If they don’t know the grounds layout where have they been for the last x years. Ignorance is no excuse.

Agree the tickets should be labelled as standing. I can’t be bothered dealing with idiots behind me, when trying to watch the game and get behind the lads, but would rather stand given the choice.

Theres a lot of decent folk around the ground, but also a lot of tools splattered all over too.

I may have been informed wrong and did not witness it first hand, but am I right to say that when we got to Wembley people in the standing area were whinging about standing?

I was in the standing area there and can’t say I witnessed any of that. Not to say it definitely didn’t happen mind.

There was talk of that on here I'm sure.

I was in the lower bowl and it was pretty much universally standing around me.

I think was upper tier people were whining at Wembley...

It's apparent alot of people are sick of it so hopefully announcement on staying or leaving will allow us to push for more standing areas.

There’s 100% an appetite for it, it’s just about getting everyone like minded together as you’ve pointed out on here numerous times.

The old level 7 corner had 3k stood.

Completely agree, but if and when common sense isn't applied there is nothing anyone can do about it, until the club improve the ticketing site.

I get they sat down in sage standing then stood at half time.

TBF the 2 other blocks who stood at last 2 games actually contributed to a few songs, shows it's needed desperately in Leazes

Always makes me laugh when people will stand for 15 minutes at HT but then have to sit down immediately again when the match kicks off again.
