From what I remember the home quarter-finals were pretty good (wasn't at the Everton one). Or at least a marked improvement on the usual. Case in both points remember discussing with someone in Feb99 how bad the atmosphere was even against Man United

The last big home game we had that was “do or die” was Milan in the CL and a woman in front of me sat and scrolled through her phone for the critical last 15 mins looking at the Irish Lottery results and pics of her pals Xmas trees on Facebook That daft cunt has given me PTSD and I don’t want it to happen again tmrw night

We were between the seats and grown men jumping around near our heads. My Dad picked me and my mate up one in each arm to face the North Stand and said "never ever forget this sight son". Was wave after waver of Black and White jumping and stand was shifting. Edited yesterday at 21:49 by Heron

Quality, even the semi final at Cardiff, absolutely blown away on the pitch but the support was phenomenal, 4-1 down and Blaydon races belting out... Of all the neutral venues we've played at I thought our support at Cardiff was just different level again. Absolute wall of noise from the off. Man Utd fans might not have bothered turning up. That was the day the "your support is fucking shit" chant that's been adopted by fans of just about every other team to the point it's generic was born, and was started by us. When people go on about stadium acoustics, the Millenium Stadium is your blueprint. Absolutely superb and different level altogether to both the old and new Wembley. I was in the 2nd tier but the overhang of the top tier ended basically on my eyeline. No exaggerating here it was moving up and down by about a foot either way. I'd never seen owt like it and it put me off watching the match at times, especially when you could see the stewards keep nervously looking up at it! I had a similar seat v Sheff Utd the season before but we mustn't have been as boisterous on that occasion because I don't recall the stand moving in the same way it did v Spurs. It's actually Ruud Gullit! being chanted over and over to a clap that most sticks in my head. Was amazing. If anyone has the 1998/99 NUFC official screenscaver that came with an official mousemat, you'll see a picture of me appear from the previous year v SheffU. Yeah, definitely Ruud Gullit’s black and white army but as you say, the clapping frenzy took over the black and white army! We were front row in the top tier and I’m glad I’d had one or two beverages pre-match () as I was shitting it as ithe stand was definitely shaking!
