I was in the Gallowgate today and I guess that me and the lad I was sitting next to today could be called day trippers but we were the only ones singing for about 10 rows around us towards the GWC. It is proper grim like. People are just emotionless. Two blokes behind me were chatting about going to the World Cup. Don't know how you can have that kind of dedication to be going to the World Cup but have zero interest in spurring the lads on. Mental tbh.

Rolling up a copy of the Ronnie Gill and using it as a piss funnel into their Canada Goose or Michael Kors jacket hood.

Seems reasonable to me

It’s called old age - around me are some of the NME / bender squad abd hangers on but they’re all 60+ , average age in gallowgate middle tier must be 45.. these are loyal fans but in th part they’d have made their way to the east stand .,

The home atmosphere issue is irreparable now. The “status” ST holders and old c*nts are locked in for good. One price for going up in the world which must be paid.

it’s the decline in the away support which seriously troubles me - and I feel

it is salvageable (through various methods, such as binning off all ID checks and setting aside a % of tickets for younger fans and members (via a ballot).

Compare recent away games vs the likes of these (they’re a great watch - and listen- but the comparison with today is enough to make you weep, not least because some of the songs simply aren’t heard any more).

just a weird day overall, town was absolutely dead, and you could hear a pin drop walking out of the stadium at the end.

Wild exaggerations on the atmosphere today mind

Wasn’t great but by no means much worse than other games this season.

Society is changing. Some will say for the better. Those that go to gigs and footy probably say for the worse.

Scrolling social media

I have seen

Everton, Mackems,Leeds, Spurs all bemoaning the lack of atmosphere in their ends today. I've seen Villa fans saying its shite at VP recently and they are absolutely flying

It's clearly a premier league/English football thing like

Attending PL matches is a middle class hobby now.

Tickets in the lower bowl where the atmosphere can be affected at SJP for league matches are £60+. Even at the best of times in fixtures like today, especially in the post Christmas comedown, typically vocal people can’t afford that. Prices have shot up like fuck across the last 5 years and not just for us either. Yet you’ll have relentlessly thick wankers going into bat for it because it ‘helps PSR’ apparently.  And ‘if you won’t pay it I will [and sit in silence]’

PSR keeping football fair by pricing out the ordinary fan. Probably the biggest sole reason PSR is a disgrace as clubs fleece fans to remain competitive.

The big price rises would happen in anycase, it's just happened sooner with PSR.

Only fleecing fans has next to zero effect on a club’s PSR issues. Clubs use it as an excuse to increase prices to fans and many buy it.

Adult/18-21 ticket in the East Stand on Wednesday £72. Taking the piss.

It is like.

There's a point when you just realise that the club are taking the piss out of fans and you can't be arsed with it anymore, even if you can afford the tickets.

£72 to sit in a stand that has hardly been updated since the 1970s surrounded by silent fans who haven't been updated since the early 2000's to watch us play recently promoted opposition in the latest possible kick off time midweek in early Jan and the match is on the telly.

I ignored loads of East Stand and Milburn resale tickets that were coming up for Leeds and got one in the Leazes East corner for £55. Which is still too expensive, but it's literally a few yards away from the £72 seats. I'd rather not go than pay £70+ for a standard ticket.

These price rises seem to have been incremental and largely gone under the radar. I don’t normally go for the East Stand for the reasons you outline above so was shocked to see the cost of a seat. My preference is the Gallowgate which also seem to remain the cheapest seats.

I assume these prices vary depending on the match ‘category’.

You've basically described me there. I'm going out early doors on Wednesday to meet up with a lad I used to work with. He's a Yorkshireman and a massive Leeds fan. We'll have a few pints then he's got to be at the ground for 6pm as he's in corporate. From then I'll meet up with my usual matchday crowd and when they head up to the match I'll head home and watch it on the telly. I did the same yesterday.

I know that there'll be loads of tickets up for resale all day Wednesday but tbh I'm not even tempted.

I'm usually in either of the Gallowgate corners or I go in the Leazes corners sometimes and it's always £55ish for a league game. Which has gone up 25% in 2 seasons but no-one raised that as an issue to the club as far as I'm aware.

I'd have to be absolutely desperate to get to a game to pay the Milburn or East Stand prices, even though I'm fortunate to be in a position where I can afford it.

I can afford going and been to most home games this season but I'm now going to select the games I'm going to go now as i can't be arsed with the pricing etc now after reviewing things over Christmas.

Another thing which doesn't help now is the shear amount of games. 4 games in the space of 10 days at home, generally feel it takes shine off excitement. I can only do 2 of 4 giving living down south and can imagine loads are having to miss a couple through work commitments/childcare affordability etc. I dunno if cup games count but transfer limit isn't a lot when we could have 30 games at home...

Being there yesterday nothing will change until you force seat moves but can't see that happening...Elland road was proper flat yesterday as well, know it's early kick off but still suprised given their biggest home game of season.

Managed to bag one in Gallowgate West - £55. Was in there on Sunday and a decent atmosphere

Aye looks like the place will be looking like the Etihad if they carry on with these price increases. I’m sure Villa fans were up in arms at their price increases and despite their great season looked a few empty seats at Villa Park on Saturday.

Think there’s a real danger the club is becoming soulless with these prices and decline in atmosphere.

Yeah, if I can’t get in the safe standing corner I’ll go for the West corner and it’s decent enough. Plenty people happy to stand up at the back too.
