Not sure when or why it started, but the booing if we’re kicking towards Gallowgate 1st half is fucking daft.

It achieves fuck all other than making us look like clampits.

It actually gives the away side a tiny but audible moral victory before the game has even kicked off because we’re booing at the exact moment we should be raising the roof.

Does any other club boo if they’re not kicking toward a certain end of their ground for the 1st half ?

Pretty sure if anyone turns Liverpool round so they kick to the Kop first half, it gets booed.

Most other clubs don’t have a sloping pitch which creates a disadvantage to a team kicking towards the Leazes in the second half.

Booing isn’t going to flatten the slope

And it’s the booing that does my head in, only seems to have started in last couple of seasons and the slope has been there a lot longer than that

I’m with you 100% on the booing - tbf I’ve never understood grown men booing under any context.  It’s not a fucking pantomime.

Nah it's been happening for years mate. Remember when I first moved from the Leazes to the Gallowgate back in 2006 and it would happen then. We seem to lose the coin toss a lot more these days and teams seem to have also cottoned on more that there's an advantage to kicking that way 2nd half so we seem to kick to the Leazes end a lot more 2nd half now which probably makes it more noticeable.

I don’t remember it all, only noticed it recently.

Although for many years I’d be going through the turnstile as the coin toss happened and arriving at my seat just as the whistle went, had it timed to absolute perfection from a small selection of city centre boozers.

And you’ve now got me wondering what our coin toss xG is and what we can do to improve our xTosser win ratio.

Aye I remember it clearly. Sat in the Leazes End from 1993-2006 and never heard people in there booing if we kicked towards our end 1st half but from 2006 when I switched ends it was immediately noticeable.

Got to say though when I used to stand in the Gallowgate in the late 80s/very early 90s, I can't remember any booing if we kicked towards us 1st half.

Just a thought, when we do attack the Gallowgate second half, is Elanga struggling because we're running downhill? You know yourself when running downhill you pick up extra speed, so imagine how Elanga must feel.

He's apparently a big Kate Bush fan, so I think it's just that he has nothing to motivate himself with when he has to run the other way.

Seem to remember us kicking towards the Leazes in the second half more often than not under Keegan.

Aye the Leazes End became more of the "home" end from 1993. Most the singers moved there when the stand was built and even when the new Gallowgate was opened in 1994 most of the more vocal fans had already settled  into the Leazes so it was noisier than the Gallowgate.

After the extension in 2000 people started migrating over to the Gallowgate. The high roof made it more difficult to create an atmosphere and that, along with more of the vocal fans moving to the Gallowgate pretty much killed it off. I lasted 6 years and shifted over there myself.

I was there yesterday. Halfway up the Gallowgate towards the GWC. I thought for the first 20 mins the atmosphere was really good. Hats off to the group in the GWC giving it ten nowt all game and of course the lads at the back of the Gallowgate too. It really wouldn't take much to make a big difference. The foundations are there to build on.

Sick of saying it but the middle tier is the problem. It's full of 60 and 70 odd year olds who've been there since 1994 and now have no interest in singing/standing up/basically making any sort of positive noise.

If there was a way of clearing that lot out and replacing them with vocal supporters who will stand/sing etc you'd be onto a winner cos the Upper/lower tiers, corners are fine. Just can't see how it can be done.

Club running a 16-25 workshop , hopefully opportunity for some fans to bring up further standing, seat relocation etc...

Hope the yoots go in with some haymakers:

We’re priced out of tickets, we can’t get a season ticket, we can’t go to away games, we struggle to get a seat with a friend, the ground is stacked with owld codgers who do nowt but piss and moan and it’s £7 for a pint of fake Spanish Carling.

Oh and one more thing, DJ Onedek is a fucking cheesy bell whiff who needs firing into the sun.

The yoots are the future of the club and the club is fucking them over good n proper.

Filled it in, great stuff by Wor Flags.

Cant wait for the club to respond by deciding to turn Hey Jude up louder and build another screen in the Milburn.
