Thursday nighy was class- the second half was actually quite fun. No pressure on the game as it was done and dusted, consistent singing and noise and Newcastle making chances as Man City had switched off.

Everyone there seemed to enjoy having a bit singsong, so why are away ends at PL games the complete opposite and full of miserable sourpusses stuck on "mute?"

Also in terms of atmosphere, the home end was appalling. It's galling to think that this is the club we are attempting to copy. If it gets like that I just don't think I'll bother anymore.

Those fuck it let's have a singsong situations are a welcome relief at times 👍

See the bit I've highlighted in bold.

It's not as simple as just helping someone out though. You can do that a couple of times a season. If you can't make it for example. Problem is it can be open to simply point building,  I've done it myself. It may help a mate or whoever but it also helps the ticket holder stay in the top points bracket and therefore keep priority on tickets. If you've genuinely done 150 aways then of course that should be recognised but there will be some on 150 pts who may have only attended 50 of those. There ARE "people who want to support Newcastle United" who will never get on the points ladder while the same few thousand have a stranglehold on away tickets, and I'm not talking about people just wanting to go because we're half decent nowadays but there are the younger lads/lasses for example. It's a loyalty point system. Reward loyalty and the people who have actually used their tickets.

Aye, it’s completely wrong if some middle aged blokes who went to loads of aways 20 year ago and rarely bother now but are still sitting on loads of points accumulated two decades ago are blocking the progress of 18-25 year olds who want to go to loads of aways but either cant get an ST or if they have one they can’t build up the points.

And how’s an 18-25 year old supposed to get to away games unless their parents are also match goers who got them on the ladder with an ST as a youth.

The whole system is fucked and as with anything related to tickets at NUFC is designed to benefit older people and the people who were willing to continue to give their money to Ashley.

It’s a two tier system of haves and have nots and it reeks. Especially for younger fans, they’re getting fucked over really badly. We’re stifling an entire generation.

Facts are that every single ticketing change this lot have implemented, whether that be for home games or away games, has resulted in a downturn in atmosphere.

Maybe it would just have been better leaving things as they were.

I said most of the above, and re the bit in bold I added comment that historically NUFC have moved people out of their seats when there's a money-making initiative being implemented (new lounges etc.) and have been more than happy to take the flak from doing so.

Also used the opportunity to request clarification from WF on the rumours that @Heron was named in the Epstein files but that's probably for a different thread.

Erm....okay. I deny those claims...clearly

I even wonder how kids and young'uns get into SJP at all these days, maybe cup games aside. How do they start? In my day you could decide you wanted to go to the match an hour before KO and just turn up. Do they just have to wait for people to die before seats are freed up? The family section? How does that work? I would have thought more kids becoming an adult and needing "re-housed" in SJP would outnumber the amount of seats that had become available elsewhere? Then when a parent and kid move out of their family enclosure seats how do the club decide who to fill those seats with? Genuine questions.

Are we missing out on a generation of fans simply because youngsters can't get in? We might even lose some to that lot down the road.

It’s a genuine concern for our future support.

Only realistic way for a younger person to have an ST is if a parent also has one and took them along as a kid pre-Oct 21.

Or there’s a very slim chance of getting one because granda jacks his in and passes it on to grandson.

So if your family don’t have ST’s you’ve got no chance. It’s ticketing nepotism.

And no ST means no away games.

Also even as a younger member going to home games: the price of tickets, the demographics in the ground, the fact you can rarely get a seat with more than one other person. It’s all geared towards older match goers.

I'd say there would have been more of the hardcore there on Wednesday. Those who cried for a loyalty points rule change back in 2021 because they suddenly decided that away games appealed to them, but because they'd never bothered before they couldn't get tickets, would have been conspicuous by their absence as it was a "dead" game and that would no doubt have applied to the new waves of You tubers and social media whores as well who've been populating the away ends a lot more these past few years.

I think there's something in this.

Was such a difference from the standard away game crowd these days who honestly just look like they don't want to be there.

I get they're supporting the club in their own way and each to their own and that, but I really struggle to understand it if I'm honest.

The close ups of the crowd there

Says all you need to know about SJP

Middle aged blokes sat silent, middle aged couple sat silent, more middle aged blokes sat silent

Apologies in advance if it was anyone on here but it really did illustrate a point

Sounded diabolical today. I remember in the not too distant past when a 5.30 Saturday KO guaranteed a pissed up radge crowd and look at the state of that today man. Tragic what we've became off the pitch (and not too good on it either). I turned down a free ticket this morning. Can't be arsed sitting amongst that.

Saw people being asked to sit down when the camera panned around the Milburn before the penalty. Fuck me

It happened to me last season in the Gallowgate. Stood up to watch us take a penalty and got a tap on the shoulder asking if I could sit down. I didn't.

I was sat in front of a squad of noisy obnoxious teenagers who did nowt but hurl foul mouthed abuse at the players for 90 minutes (even at 1-0) so I donr think age is the issue.

Some of those leaving after Brentfords' winner got some grief from a few around me with calls to "stay and support your team". There was only one goal in it with loads of stoppage time ahead after all. I'm sure most were able to catch their last bus/train too. You can understand it a bit more when it's an 8.15 KO.

Probably just copying what they see their dads do.

It was the silence I was commenting on more than the age. But the age is probably a factor in the silence.

Was in the East stand today not too far from the corner (6 seats from the standing section) atmosphere was horrific. A few ppl clapping to the chants but no singing at all.

Mass of people leaving after their last goal with over 10 minutes to go.

These ppl don't deserve tickets imo

I thought the corner were the only lads singing? It's hard to get involved when nobody around you joins in. Me and this young lad I didn't know singing a duet at times [emoji38]

Tell you what, the amount of people leaving before full time is an absolute disgrace. There's people waiting in a ballot for the chance of getting in to the stadium, the least they can do is support the team for the entire game. I hope their metros were delayed, their post match pints were warm, and they lost all their money on their accas.

I don't think it would be anyone on here, but honestly, full offense intended to anyone walking out early [emoji38]

I thought first half it was good in the Gallowgate. Second half felt more resigned than anything.

Aye I didn’t think it was bad at the back of the Gallowgate first half until they equalised.

Interesting (and good) to hear the corner “no noise in the Gallowgate” chant.

The players and coaching staff rightly getting pelters for their performances recently but in the stands we’ve been fucking shite too.
