Thought it was rank today. No belief in that ground once we went behind whatsoever and that reflected in the players.

The home crowd can get itself up for big one-off games no doubt but for the majority of the bread and butter league games at home like today, pathetic. Leads to a perfect storm of negativity when we're in a rut like we are now, although the miserable buggers don't seem to have an issue getting themselves up for a good bit of booing at the end. It's why I find it cringey when players are asked about "the fans" in interviews. The players need to do more on the pitch as well obviously as each feeds off the other.

Was in the corner and it sounded pretty loud where I was. Can personally say I did my bit. Felt comfortable to do so because there was enough people around me also doing their bit. Though there is was still a good number of people not singing. Lads in the corner were going pretty much non stop all game. So they deserve credit.

I'd say there would have been more of the hardcore there on Wednesday. Those who cried for a loyalty points rule change back in 2021 because they suddenly decided that away games appealed to them, but because they'd never bothered before they couldn't get tickets, would have been conspicuous by their absence as it was a "dead" game and that would no doubt have applied to the new waves of You tubers and social media whores as well who've been populating the away ends a lot more these past few years.

That said, there was a fair few left at 3-0. Despite being a middle aged man I stayed and sang to the end.

Fill a ground with old people who have been in a loveless marriage for decades with a partner they’re only staying with out of habit rather than attraction and it’s really no surprise they only do the nasty a couple of times per year.

The last few years 1730 KOs have usually been the ideal combination of time for enough pints to be radge but not too many so as to be completely fucked.

I know the weather is doing us all in but fuck me that was a disgrace today, even the referee starting to play the cunt made no difference

I was in L7 today and the most audible chant was “no noise from the Gallowgate”.

To which the Gallowgate responded with absolutely nothing.

The atmosphere at SJP is hideous, and it’s largely of the clubs making.

Apparently the corner were having a pop at the Gallowgate for not singing but that wasn't audible on the telly. Few people on twitter saying it happened though.

What was audible on TV was 1,200 Brentford fans singing "no noise from the Saudi boys" which was met by complete and utter silence.

Just feels there's nothing good about the club at the moment.

I was in the Leazes and hardly heard the Brentford fans apart from a few bits. The Leazes was its usual mix of a few patches of singing and large areas of apathy. Doesn’t help that the singing is rarely joined up around the ground but I don’t think TV is the best medium for judging the atmosphere.

Does any PL club have a reliably loud home crowd? I feel like every club would have the same issues with entrenched ST holders, fans older and older each year, young people priced out etc.

Who cares about other clubs. We can only control our own situation and it’s absolutely fucking dire for all the reasons you mention.

Yeah fair enough, I just always wonder about what level of atmosphere we can reasonably expect.

In any walk of life apart from dogging, if you get a large group of older people together to do the same thing they’ve always done every couple of weeks for the last couple of decades then what’s the best you can expect ?

Well exactly, that's part of my point. Those are the majority of fans in the PL era as far as I know.

I'm sure there are radical solutions involving replacing those people and making tickets dramatically cheaper, just not sure if they would ever happen.

I know there are things we could do by moving people around and having more safe standing areas for the dedicated singers.

Well if we got even the atmosphere of 3 years ago I think people would be happy. The downturn had been staggering.

This is true. Also with chants of “The corner, The Corner”! Think Brentford had the quietest fans I’ve heard. Or rather not heard.

That analogy works annoyingly well

Thought the corner was excellent today tbh.

Basically didn't stop for 90mins and was pro-Howe

The corner is consistently excellent.

It’s the other 3 corners and the majority of the 4 stands that’s diabolical.

On TV, it was just close-ups of sad-looking old couples.

At one point I genuinely thought they’d switched to a live stream of the CCTV at St Mary Lighthouse car park

TBH I get bored of folk calling out the East Stand nowadays. It is what we all expect. The Gallowgate though...Silence...and that's our 'home' end

The close ups of the crowd there

Says all you need to know about SJP

Middle aged blokes sat silent, middle aged couple sat silent, more middle aged blokes sat silent

Apologies in advance if it was anyone on here but it really did illustrate a point

Don't disagree with that and I'm that demographic, but we are the one's who can afford it at our stage in life. Mentioned on here before that so far this year I've paid £940 for ST and £415 so far on home cup tickets. Plus it'll be another £65 if we progress past carrier bags. Its bloody expensive for middle aged people on good salaries, never mind yoofs and young uns'.

I’m in that demographic too and agree with your points.

Also keep in mind that members are paying a lot more than you for game by game tickets, so being a regular match goer is even further out of the reach of the youngins and people who don’t have a lot of disposable income.

And then if they do spend their hard earned to go to the match, the atmosphere recently has been so dire it feels like a massive rip off.
