I remember feeling dread when he was fleetingly linked with us. I'd say I was wrong but I truly think he needed to go to Napoli and do what he's done in order to push on - I don't think it'd have gone this way if he'd stayed in the PL. Fair play.

He scored 10 goals for us the season before going to Napoli to be fair.

Hard to judge him on what he has done in Italy really , that league is such a poor standard these days. It's no coincidence that players that have struggled in this league end up looking much better in the Italian league. Even Lukaku looked a world beater in that league but never looked anywhere near that here .

Nah. He's not the first average premier league player to go to Italy and be a success.

Whilst I do agree with that, he was also playing in a very poor Man Utd team, but he did go hiding in games and didn’t seem to have the drive to make a regular place for himself in the side.

To assume he’d just tear it up now for any PL team could be a costly mistake given what Napoli would want for him.

He played in a team that won multiple trophies and finished second twice to be fair. I honestly thought the criticism he got for "hiding" was a bit bizarre and never really agreed with it.

He's just a limited player who had a great year. It will stabilise.

Apparently his form hasn't been the best for Napoli this season? He's getting linked with a €70m move to Everton nowadays.[emoji38] A wild price for someone who turns 29 in december.

Yep. He knows where the goal is for sure, and he can put his foot in. Just don't think he's a very skilful player on the ball.

Moyes would love him.

Aye he's not. He's not creative, and he's not good with the ball under pressure in passing situations. Most players have their uses in certain teams and systems though.

I'm convinced he would have been a poor signing for you.

I've heard enough. He's a Howe player.

If you build a system around him then sure he'll get you a few goals. Basically the 2020's Kevin Nolan.

Not this comparison again. Not even that big a fan of McTominay but bloody hell. Nolan, aide from not being technical couldn’t even get up and down the pitch. Nolan had a nothing career by comparison.

Can you imagine Nolan leaping off the ground to perform a bicycle kick? There'd be seismic shockwaves around the ground and a crater the size of a six yard box where he landed. :mackems:

Calling it an overhead kick is quite kind [emoji38] He sort he fell backwards in slow motion
