Anderson is an outstanding footballer and will likely go on to have a glittering career. How people still cant see hes worth every penny of the money Man City are about to pay is beyond me.

Probably because he looked very ordinary in a Howe team.

Just shows how some fans can get things terribly wrong.

My stance has always been I’ve never seen anything “outstanding” about him.

Even just solely based on the games for and against us he’s looked inferior to what we had here and what he faced when against us.

I’ll admit I didn’t expect him to be a key midfielder in this summer’s World Cup. Hold my hands up on that one if picked to start as expected.

Agreed, even using a tone-deaf profile picture on a football forum for years on end.

We all get things wildly wrong.

This sentence, which I agree with, should make you reflect... on Howe, not on Anderson.

That was the point really. It might be that he just wasn't suited to a high intensity game style where he got caught with less time on the ball.

Just another take on this: we keep hearing how Eddie Howe improves players...well by that logic he made Anderson worse. He's looked outstanding for every other team he's played for, Newcastle under Howe is the only time he's looked poor.

At the time I was pretty critical of Anderson because I was all in on Howe's tactics and playing style, but I feel we've seen the limits of it when we come up against the better sides, and now we are even seeing the limits when we come up against poor sides who play an effective low block.

Completely. If you ignore the context that Anderson was given time at Forest to become the player he is today, by being the main man in midfield in a different system to the one Newcastle play.

But yeah, ignoring that, Howe ruined Anderson.

Fucking mental gymnastics on NO every day these days.

Off you're rocker. He looked great for us when he played and was only getting better. Sometimes I wonder if many people on here even watch us.

Can't recall anyone being happy he was sold, but loads of people (me included) were revolted at the thought of selling Tonali and buying Anderson back to replace him.

Granted, this was before he turned into a £100 million player, or whatever

Was extremely unhappy personally, think I said the same when you said his the other week

I have absolutely no doubt that Anderson, if he had stayed at Newcastle, would be absolutely class now. It would have just taken a bit longer due to opportunities. This isn't Howe's fault, we just had better midfielders than Forest did at the time.

I do however think that Miley will go on to be the better player.

tbf don’t think anyone was particularly happy tho I do remember the reaction to selling Anderson was a lot less angry to the reaction to selling Minteh

I don't think anyone was happy, but I think we did have an understanding that we needed 65m and someone had to be sold to make that number.

I recall when we found out we actually got 15m net for him people were rather unhappy.

Don't tell me what I felt 😂😂

As I said before I was all-in on him and followed him closely at Bristol Rovers and particularly the pre season before he got injured in Miley's breakout season. It's easy to say with hindsight but I thought there was a proper player there and I was aghast we sold him at the time.

Hold on. Are you having a pop at my profile picture?

Not only is Gary Speed one of my favourite players but his tragedy meant that I left it for respect to his passing. In what world is that "tone deaf", fuck me dead.

Very confused by those knocking Anderson he was great last season and the stats bear that out. He's also one of our own who literally took one for the team, he didn't want to leave.
