with Miley back and everyone fit there is a healthy competition in that area, you'd think there will be a degree of rotation going forward

It’s going to be needed if we’re going to keep the pressing game up. Once we get the last of these shitty disruptive international breaks out of the way, we have 8 games in 4 weeks.

If we beat Brentford in the LC, from 30th December to 10th Jan we’d jam another 4 games in 14 days onto that. Rotation is going to be really important. We need either Osula coming through or Callum the Cripple back to lighten the load on Isak.

Got the feeling eventually we will see...

                Tonali

     Bruno          Willock

Gordon                    Joelinton

                  Isak

But perhaps Longstaff has cemented his starting place for a while again in Eddie's eyes.

I think this is technically our best team at the moment. Replace Burn eventually with Botman.

Don’t know why but I get a feeling it’s not going to work out for him here and he’s going to end up back in Italy.

Wow!

Not sure I would go that far and it is early’ish days still in some ways.

But if the blue chip (gambling pun intended) signing from last summer. Who cost around £55m. Can’t displace Longstaff out of the team and start games and contribute on a consistent basis. Then doubt he’d stay here too long if he was sat on the bench most weeks.

Like I say though, it is still pretty early on with that discussion. But plenty of people seem adamant that we are better with Longstaff in the team and we know Howe is a big fan. If Tonali can’t replicate that and more, then it would have been  a monumental waste of money more than anything.

You can just Google "Sandro Tonali Instagram" and it's the first link, you don't even need an account to see it.

He's obviously a good player, he's looked great for Milan and Italy. It's more a question of whether he fits into our style of play under Howe. It is still early days though, there were promising signs last week against Chelsea when he was played more centrally. If he can't replace Longstaff then we should probably consider selling him and buying a better version of Longstaff.

Pretty much. He’s not going to play the central role unless Bruno leaves or it’s after 65 minutes when he comes on or the odd cup game and I’m not sure he’ll be happy with that. So unless he can master the Longstaff role better than Longstaff,I don’t know. But like you say it’s still early days I suppose.

I don't think it's out of the question that he'll play the central role with Bruno further forward regularly. If I'm remembering correctly he went there when he came on against Arsenal, and Howe had experimented with him starting there against Chelsea in the cup. Both examples I thought the midfield worked well and looked nicely balanced. Wouldn't be surprised if Howe has found a better fit for the players we've got and moves forward with it now, or at least part of the time as a different option.

I think we'll have teams sniffing about in January for him with his limited game time. City arsenal maybe.

I'd be surprised tbh. More likely to go back to Italy if and when he does go anywhere.

Why not they both need legs in midfield

What has he done since joining us that would make either of them bid for him? Not a knock on Tonali either, I think he should be starting. But he isn’t on the radar of those clubs imo.

We're barely into November man. He'll be back in the side before the end of it, there'll be plenty of games for him. Last game he played in the cup win over Chelsea, he was outstanding.

I think he would of been previous to his ban. He has a lot to offer Milan captain to bench warmer at a mid table club in England. 😂
