NUFC Transfer Rumours

I read an article saying it's all agreed, but as the MLS season hasn't kicked off yet, we've asked for him to stay till the end of January as an emergency option so we're not left short, and they agreed.

Think it was from Ben Jacobs and so take with heaps of salt, but would make some sense I guess.

So we “may” replace him at the end of January 🤞🏻

Massively contradicting article from Edwards lol. Throws out one argument insinuating that’s it’s ridiculous the club aren’t strengthening and risk blowing champions league qualification. Then goes into detail about how hands are tied and essentially we could up having to sell players in another emergency situation come June if we sign someone 🤷‍♂️ 😂

Yeah, hopefully we are working on someone coming in to replace him in the meantime too.

I wonder if Miggy goes plus the players out of contract in the summer we aren’t renewing gives us the leeway to bring someone in?

We were making serious bids for Guehi with no PSR room, which would have caused us to sell a starter like Gordon, Bruno, or even Isak? Why would we have traded a starter for a RCB backup (albeit the future at the position)? Doesn't really make sense.

I’d imagine Eddie felt we were massively vulnerable at CB. If Schar had got a bad injury rather than getting sent off in that first game, we were bang in trouble.

Obviously Kraft came in for three games and did absolutely fine, but expecting him to do be able to do that for half a season would have been a huge ask.

Agree but doesn't fully answer the question of why we would choose that over the long-term retention of one of our best players.

Maybe the fact we weren’t prepared to go to the numbers Palace were wanting, indicates it wouldn’t have necessitated the selling of one of our elite players, possibly more a Barnes or a Willock?

If we were bidding ~50m or less, and putting him on a reasonably long contract, I suspect the selling of one of those mid-tier players might have covered things, at least in the short term.

Or ever.

Haha wouldn't go that far. Summer is a different matter. I just feel bad for people every time I come in here theorising about this position or that position. The club have gotten it out there all month, and in the months leading up to Jan that, unless there was a majoy injury to one of the crown jewels, we would be saving ourselves for the Summer market.

The days of "well of course they say that..." or 'smokescreens' are long gone. The notion of 'smokescreens' to begin with is just a bit daft.

Not sure I’d call it screwing us over? They wanted a player and they got him.

Yeah it's not City screwing us over, it's the PL stopping us from buying the same player when he was happy to come. His agent literally said it was because of PSR we couldn't do the deal.

I do wonder if the last big investment on the stadiums name is subject to the planning delay or because of the noise created when Ashley did it with Sports direct.

It's a whole different world now due to FFp but if it allowed us PSR transfer funds how much would you sell your sole for?

I'm sure there'll be some wiggle room, but will only happen if someone we like is available for a price we can accommodate I think.

IF we get into Europe we are going to need a few additions or the squad will break down again under the strain next season.  Going to be an interesting Summer.

100%

Need to get probably 5-6 first teamers to properly refresh the squad and add more youth and pace.

1-2 purples (P)

1-2 squad (mid) players (S)

1-2 youngsters (Y)

GK - Y (Trafford)

RW - P - (Mbuemo, Kubo or that level)

RCB - P - (Guehi, Tapsoba or that level)

CF - S (Delap)

CB - Y/S (Harwood-Bellis or similar)

AM - Y (McAtee or Dibling)

Would set us up for next year nicely with talent across the park, nice blend of youth and experience.

Surely, we'll need to shift possibly two of our purples for that to happen?!

A fair few of those would command big money. This PSR is fucking shit. Any prospective owner should put down a deposit of the clubs value in a holding account, then buy the club at the same value. If said owners fuck the club over, then they forfeit their deposit. Something needs to be done because clubs are being completely stifled (all on purpose, ofc).

That's a 250 million net spend - how on earth is that remotely possible.
