He’s mooted to be off to Liverpool to replace Van Dijk.

Talk about a downgrade. I like Guehi but he's a completely different bracket to VVD.

Must be in the minority here - absolutely detest Kulusevski. Good player but he's a snide little fucker

which is fine if he's our snide little Fucker, a la Gordon

I suppose it’ll be interesting to see how much we have to spend given how frugal we’ve had to be recently and with the recent outgoings in Jan.

I read somewhere today, might have been the Athletic, that we still won't have loads to spend if we abide strictly by the PSR restrictions. So we'll have to be strategic, in which case it might be one or two big signings or 4-5 promising ones in the mould of Hall and Livra.

Yeah I was thinking they might go biggish on a CB and RW and then maybe a couple squad signings or something like that.

Tino and Hall cost about 70 million between them didn’t they ? Pretty big signings I’d say.

Yes but not an Isak or a Tonali level

Dibling / Harwood-Bellis would be a Hall and Tino type

Mbeumo / Guehi would be the Tonali type

Guler would be a mixture of Isak/Hall in that very young but one of the best youngsters in the world

Yeah this is what I was getting at. I think we will have to continue going down the buy young potential rather than proven performers, I would imagine with Mitchell on board it will be more the Elanga for £15m that Forest did than £40m for Tino. I think we'll be shopping abroad more so we can make a few signings rather than just a couple, we have a few areas we need more cover.

We’ll be offloading a few too so that’ll give us room to bring players in in terms of wage bill even if we haven’t got much in the way of transfer fees for them - Wilson, Lascelles etc

Dibling being able to show as much as he has in a generationally bad Southampton team is really impressive. He’s going to the top I think.

For us the only question is if he could handle the move. He couldn’t even manage leaving Southampton to go to London.

You do a lot of growing up from 16 to 19. Wouldn't worry too much about whether he can handle a move or not. If he wants to go and accepts a contract he's most likely thought it through extra hard considering his past.

I still think we're going to sell at least one of Bruno, Joelinton, Gordon, or Barnes (assuming we don't sell Isak). I think the only way that maybe won't happen is if we qualify for the CL and even then I think it's pretty likely.

Newcastle chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan has told the club’s hierarchy to resist any offers for his favourite player Alexander Isak this summer.

The governor of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment fund, the club’s majority owners, was at Wembley on Sunday to see the Magpies lift their first domestic trophy in 70 years. He watched the 2-1 win over Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final from the Royal Box, before joining the team at Wembley’s Boxpark for a celebratory party.

And we understand the Saudi chief is adamant that Isak, scorer of the second goal against the Reds, will not be going anywhere. Sources have told us that Al-Rumayyan is sweeter on the Swedish striker than any other player.

Not Isak then [emoji38] (honestly expect him here next season UCL or not).

I could see Bruno going for some reason mainly because he’s that little bit older. His stock is pretty high after winning the cup and someone might come in for him in the summer, maybe a CL club on the continent. He might feel its job done and move on but qualifying for the CL this season might change all that.

The noise from Eales etc in recent media briefings has been totally different to the past few seasons, in terms of transfers etc, last year and the year before they were very much downplaying our ability to spend etc but in the recent media briefing a few weeks ago they were being much more positive, I feel like we will be in for an interesting summer.

Yeah assuming none of our big players leave bringing in a few key players will take us up another level again. You get the feeling Trafford is coming in and I think CB and RW will be the two main signings.
