NUFC Transfer Rumours

People will say Gordon wasn't bad last season. But someone with 40% more goal involvements was terrible for 6 months.

Again, he had around 3 goal involvements in the second half of the season. That is terrible.

I'm sure everyone would prefer proven players, but generally they will choose cartel clubs if they are competing for the same players.

The most proven players we've signed outside of the first window are Barnes & Livramento coming off an ACL.

In the main we have to sign players other top clubs aren't 100% convinced on.

Yep. If there were no PSR it would be different, we could match cartel wages and buy our way to the top like they did. But under the current rules we have to be very inventive in the transfer market and be patient.

According to Whoscored, in his last 10 matches for Bournemouth Semenyo had 5 G/A, 4 goals and 1 assist and 2 man of the match performances. This was a Bournemouth side that went off the boil too.

His worst run for Bournemouth was a run of 8 games without a goal or an assist. In the preceding 11 games he had 9 G/A and a 2 MOTM performances. So, in total, it was 19 games, 9 goals and assists.

But he was terrible for 6 months.

I'm not even big on Semenyo but let's be measured.

Aye we don't even have to be creative - we just won't get first dibs.

The biggest issue is Chelsea hoarding players. That should be stopped. They are stockpiling talent. Everyone else has to pass on good players.

The reason the athletic don't know about our transfer targets is because they are serious journalists. Random transfer rumours and gossip is normally assigned to the gutter press, hence why Hope and Edwards are all over it.... and yet are still wrong.

Think your wrong, I believe it's because we have no idea what the hells going on, along with all the itk,s , so if we don't know journos have no chance .

Personally think it’s more important to get a proven CB in this summer than RW. I think we could risk shopping abroad for the RW and easing him in.

Might not need someone as proven as Mbeumo, but we certainly should aim higher than a Osula type signing for RW.

Absolutely, what I meant is I’d be more inclined to shop abroad for someone less proven in the league.

I'll be in a minority here but I'm honestly not super confident about this window. Hopeful, but not confident.

There's a good chance we'll make some good moves, but equally, I think there's reason for concern. Backroom staff upheaval, some potentially dubious inclinations from Eddie to hang on to certain players and not really want cheap foreign prospects, our apparent indifference towards pillaging the free agent market, last summer's 3 month Guehi pursuit while ignoring Huijsen and co.

Again, not saying it'll be a bad window this time around too. But equally, as highly as I regard Eddie and others at the club, they're human and very capable of having major blind spots. I'm nervous is all. We have to be very smart and very aggressive with transfers given how PSR is constantly trying to screw us, and I'm just not convinced we've been that way the last few windows. I guess we'll see how the summer pans out.

I don't think Eddie will lower his standards so it will be a case of trying to recruit from a small pool of talent again. Getting smaller every time a cartel club goes for the same players, but a lot will depend on how badly he wants to shop in alternative markets. I think we'll stick to buying only when our first choice targets become available.
