NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

According to Keith Downie this is the list of RW we have scouted lately apart of course from Elanga.

If the deal for him becomes too expensive which of the scouted players has the best credentials for the RW berth?

So, who else could be on the list? Domestically, we’ve seen Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo heavily linked, along with West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus, Southampton’s Tyler Dibling and Chelsea’s Noni Madueke.

As for overseas options, Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche has been watched, along with Sporting Lisbon’s Francisco Trincao, Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens and Johan Bakayoko at PSV.

There’s all sorts of things to ponder. Dibling could have the highest ceiling but the money Southampton want is currently daft. Expect him to go to Spurs, similar to Archie Gray or Lucas Bergvall. Seems to be policy.

Bakayoko was linked with Bournemouth for £25m - that’s the gamble signing of potential value. But equally could be a Moussa Diaby type semi-dud signing.

Bakayoko for me. Obviously can't play up front but he's only got a year left on his deal so you'd assume he'd be £25-30m at most. Playing in the Netherlands so assume he isn't on a huge wage. The overall package might allow us to buy a proper backup striker eg. Kalimuendo and have both for what Mbeueuembo would have cost. That's the sort of deal I think we should be doing this summer.

Bakayoko wasn't getting a game ahead of 36 year old Ivan Perisic at the end of last season. I think I'd rather go for Elanga at £40-50m than Bakayoko at £25-30m, the Dutch league is shocking

Bakayoko would be a huge risk, he's been bad enough that he's been dropped for low-level Eredivisie games this season. Of course could be improved by Howe as most are, but wouldn't feel comfortable with him being our main RW reinforcement.

who did we compete with for Bruno, Isak, Gordon, Tonali, Hall & Tino?

Palace wanted Hall. Chelsea wanted Gordon but got caught out in terms of timing. We just moved first on Bruno and Isak.

There was talk that interest in Bakayoko cooled significantly after this past season.

Feel a bit bad for him because it felt like PSV were playing silly buggers with him because he wouldn't sign a new contract.

They dropped him for Perisic, and I don't think he reacted very well to the whole thing with his performances then suffering.

Still had some decent moments though. Scored a great goal against Liverpool at Anfield if I'm not mistaken.

He rejected Brentford or someone similar last summer didn't he? And gave an interview where he said he was happy to wait until an elite CL club came in for him. Oops!

Definitely a player in there by the looks of it tbf, just not a project we need to take on right now if we're looking for a RW to come in and hit the ground running as a starter.

I thought PSV rejected the bid? But not sure.

Bakayoko has definitely talked up himself and only wanting to join a team chasing titles though.

Think he's got a ton of talent, but might be prone to sulking and also seems a bit daft [emoji38]

Ivan Perisic is a very good player like

i like Bakayoko and with him off the radar a bit now and in the final year of his contract I think this is a good time to make our move if indeed we were/are interested. Could be an absolute steal.

I think Murphy’s emergence over the last season and a half allows us to take such a risk and bed a project player in at right wing. His ceiling is very high and he’s still young. Being part of a good group of players and coached by Howe could be the making of him at PL level.

Would definitely be up to take a punt on him for little money instead of 50-60m on Elanga. He has talent. Then put the money in other areas. It’s not like Elanga is much better than Murphy anyway. Can’t lose too much taking a chance on him. I much prefer Akliouche though (more expensive obviously)

Getting both Elanga and Pedro would be insane

Mitigates most of the reservations I have at just potentially signing Elanga

Basically 'more of the same' down the wings, but better, and with someone who can play as a 10, cover for Isak, and hopefully as an 8 if need be.
