It's been done to death but it's so shit that any club who wants to make the Champions League and stay there have to sell their promising home grown players to stay afloat

if we sacrified Anderson last summer to survive only to replace him with Ramsey a year later, would we be better for it?

If Ramsey can stay fit, i feel like he offers so much that Willock can and can't do.

Aye, but just looking at last season we were 12-2-5 at home. 6th best home record. I agree, more technical ability could help break those teams that sit back, down -- but i think the real answer is raising the quality in all aspects to play multiple styles or play our main style, better.

I like this answer more. It's about evolving and elevating the play. I do not want us our our fans to simply think we should be a possession team and become pass masters - that is not in our DNA.

Murphy was electric last season, but it was pinned a lot on his elite-level crossing last season. Ideally, our next step is we find either a better crosser, a better wide forward, or a better dribbler/passer. And any combo of all of that will hopefully evolve the play.

Another great post. It was that maddening lay-down job between 8th and 13th where we got ran over by Bournemouth and Fulham. Were ass at home and away v Everton. Were ass away at Palace. Were ass at home v Brighton. In half of those matches, had we taken a chance or two early on (Isak, Gordon....) be a different story.

Yea I agree with Ikon that it is much more than just breaking the low block, cause it is about controlling the game against teams like Everton and Fulham who want to frustrate and try to nick a goal. When you control the ball and push them back there is a long way to counter. Similar what Pep has done to Howe many times. And doesnt mean we try to play 5000 passes a game, cause that is not Howe’s style. But crossing more often than not leads to losing the ball and we chase it again. We need quality footballers on the wings, not runners.

Ramsey's an upgrade on Willock, like.

Be happy with that.

Vs. Willock. Better shooting. Better ball carrying. Seems less affected by the injuries he's had.

If you look at all comps, Ramsey has 4 goals and 7 assists in about 25 games of minutes in the season just past. His numbers are bumped by goals in cups etc. but not bad for someone playing in fits and starts. Villa play a lot of 4-2-3-1, so fewer opportunities for an LM. Rogers, McGinn and Rashford have all played in that left forward position. Their fans seem to like him on their forum, which is more than you can say about the evaporating faith in Willock on here.

Twitter murmurs of Palace interest in Willock, and we all know who could be coming the other way. PSR likes swapsies.

Rogers and Kamara are the only 2 i’d take from Villa, swapping one injury prone midfielder who goes missing for large chunks of the game for another would be underwhelming.

Is there any player you'd not be underwhelmed by?

Honestly, so far I’d be happy with Trafford and would have paid the premium for Cunha based on his ability and potential ceiling.

Bar that not really.
