So you do not have any examples.

Like I said, we will most likely get a freebie like DCL or someone cheap from abroad.

If you think it is going to be big money striker, prepare to be disappointed.

O can name just about every striker who will be superior to DCL. Who said we would be paying big money? I'll be happy we don't sign that crock, which we won't

I hope so but I can't for the life of me understand how the club could expect to get him if they weren't willing to go the extra lengths to get their number 1 option.

Two things:

1) how do we know exactly who the number one options are… it is perfectly possible that we have multiple deals being worked on at any one time.

2) with Pedro, the “extra mile” isn’t really something we can just “be willing” to go for. If Chelsea have beaten us to his signature it will almost certainly be because they are offering a wage far higher than we are allowed to, plus the London appeal.

We’re in such a difficult position. It’s obvious we can’t afford an expensive mistake from abroad. Gone are the days (pre ffp/psr) where you can buy a player from abroad on 3 year deal. Due to the amortisation any deal has to be 5 years these days. With wage demands included it’s why less and less clubs in the top 6 are shopping abroad and most are buying proven premier league players.

It’s easy for me to say we should change the strategy and gamble to buy three abroad signings but if those three players don’t come good in the premier league it could knock us back 5 years.

The top clubs are effectively prohibiting clubs from buying abroad and then hoovering up the domestic talent themselves. Sickening.

If we got dcl that's three strong in the forward position. And I think Osula could do a job if giving the chance.

We know Burn, Schar, Botman even Lascelles and Krafth can do a job at CB. We know Murphy can do a job at RW and Barnes or Gordon can cover. We’ve got nothing up front outside of Isak. I think Osula is a striker but most on here think he’s a RW too. Either way he’s totally untested as a PL/CL starter. A striker is a must in this window.

Based on nothing at all I feel like this might work out for us. Plan B or C or whatever we’re on might involve a little more risk but I back us to identify talented players.

Would be fun with a new name. Guehi, Elanga, Trafford and Pedro has been going on for while now so an update on them doesnt make the heart beat very fast [emoji38]

Well, I am hoping for some example.

Well you just said we need quality player [emoji38] Quality players cost a lot of money.

We are not spending more than 10-15 million on a striker, if we get Gk, RCB and RW.

I guess the reason I thought he was number 1 target is that we have history there and we've made a clear attempt to sign him again. But yes, there's no proof that we havent stalled making an increased offer because we have other irons in the fire that are our actual preferences.

I'm sceptical that's the case though as I don't imagine any selling clubbing not leaking our interest in the hope to agitate further interest.

The news about the Trafford, Pedro and Elanga bids wouldn't have come from our side.

The above point probably negates the need to answer the second part, but for the sake of discussion, by all accounts Brighton rejected 1 maybe 2 of our offers. Of course Chelsea could and probably would have been a threat no matter, but it surprises me - on the assumption he was our number 1 target - that we hadn't at least agreed on a fee at any point.

Nope, sorry.

Nee bother. Depending on direction, it’s one I think I could see them going down. More Tino/Hall polishers than ready baked Pedro/Mbeumo types.

Kudus is definitely on our list like. Don’t know how close to the top though.

Good to hear

Way more talented than Pedro imo, he's insane at dribbling and has a great shot on him. Though not sure if he's be as good out of possession, and will cost a fair bit more I think?

Might be the next player I starting willing to sign 😂

How do we get this "striker of quality", when we have more pressing concerns in other areas of the pitch? Any examples who we should look for?
If we buy GK, RCB and RW all of quality, we have no money for this "striker of quality". And this leaves us with 5 midfielders for 3 places, which is way too few.

You can't understand people's thinking and I can't understand your thinking.

We need some versatile players in there. A winger/forward, attacking midfielder/winger, attacking midfielder/forward. Loads of players can play more than 1 position. Christ I'd imagine if we had another good left back Lewis Hall would be a far better shout in midfield than any of our bench. Hopefully Miley comes on, but dont see it without a loan where he makes himself their top midifelder.

Have a look at almost any team in the top leagues of Europe for examples of better players. You haven't got a clue on what we spend or how much that we have to spend. We also just it a bid of 50 million for Predo who is not a GK, RW or a CB, which makes your claim a mockery also. The fact you are actually advocating DCL as acceptable is laughable. DCL

And the fact that you are giving no examples of what these ”quality players” are that we should be after, tells me enough about your knowledge.

I dont think DCL is any worse than Wilson, who was offered a new deal and played a part last season. I take you more seriously when you tell me who should we look for

If we loan Miley out we need 2 midfielders.

But i agree the RW should be someone who can play up top. Mbeumo would have been a lot better than Pedro bc of this.

Our squad is way too thin for UCL games. We will have a drop again in results if we dont bring number of bodies in.
