Is it actually? [emoji38] Ben will be along in a minute.

Probably goes without saying but word is (according to our ever so reliable local journalists) that hes not exactly living up to expectations behind the scenes.

Yeah I mean he's the one in charge of the data side. He's not a football guy so I wouldnt expect him to have the eye for talent and if that was that club are expecting them I'm not sure what to say.

Would love to know more about him not being good

Think he's supposed to be in charge of developing a Newcastle specific data model, with input provided from the recruitment side of the club.

Not great to hear that he might not be up to it to be honest.

I was just watching Geordie Journos and Liam Kennedy eluded to someone who was meant to be "best in class" in our data recruitment basically not living up to expectations.

Just to be clear, he was implying that he wasnt living up to expectations inside the halls of Newcastle, as opposed to a fan/journalist perspective.

So I wouldn't be surprised to see changes. Wilson himself might have already got to grips with it, to be fair but I did think it was interesting.

Thanks for sharing STM.

It doesn't surprise me as we have a bit of a conflict a club stuffed full of traditional football people where as we bring In suds who will definitely struggle with the eye test as he's a data guy.

I imagine we are struggling to integrate data into our traditional workflows tbh.

Again, I think a DoF is the key in all of this. Someone needs to see the whole picture and have experience in dealing with the whole picture.

Doesn't Suds have a proven background at Atlanta though?

I'd expect him to work well for us if he's worked at good club who didn't shell out loads on the expensive 'obvious' signings

Yeah he does but he's still not a football guy.

I don’t know how you can’t be good at analysing data and passing on the data that meets the required criteria. Sounds like we may be better off with copilot

He will be doing all of that, it's probably the data gets passed on to the scouts and they find holes in the players game and everyone looks at Suds like wtf

Using data analysis (copilot) our targets this window should be;

🧠 Said El Mala — AM/Winger, Germany

Estimated fee: ~£40–45m

Why: Explosive Bundesliga breakout; Brentford reportedly had a €45m bid rejected which implies a valuation just under NUFC’s range. Strong ball‑carrying and chance creation.

Source:

 Rio Ngumoha — Winger, Liverpool

Estimated fee: ~£35–45m

Why: One of Europe’s top teenage performers in 2025/26 with 29 senior appearances and a PFA Young Player nomination. Liverpool say he’s “not for sale”, but a big bid could test resolve.

Source:

🎯 Jessic Ngankam — Forward, Eintracht Frankfurt

Estimated fee: ~£10–15m

Why: Under‑the‑radar Bundesliga forward with strong underlying metrics. Recently moved to Wolfsberger AC on loan, meaning a permanent deal could be cheap.

Source:

🛡️ Warmed Omari — CB, Rennes

Estimated fee: ~£12–18m

Why: Ball‑playing centre‑back with Ligue 1 pedigree. Hamburg activated a purchase option despite injuries — suggests undervalued talent NUFC could upgrade on.

Source:

🧩 Morgan Guilavogui — Winger, Lens

Estimated fee: ~£4–6m

Why: Direct, athletic wide player with Ligue 1 experience. Recently moved to MLS for £4.3m, showing he’s attainable and undervalued.

🧱 Kanta Doi — CB, FC Tokyo

Estimated fee: ~£3–5m

Why: Dominant aerially, composed in possession, already linked with Chelsea & Man Utd.

Source:

🎨 Kacper Urbański — CM/AM, Legia Warsaw

Estimated fee: ~£3m

Why: One of Poland’s most technically gifted young midfielders; already has senior international caps.

Give me my £120k salary

If he was the wrong hire then we need to look at whoever was responsible for identifying him as the right man for the job. He obviously wasn't a football guy, but then if you needed a football man doing the data analysis then why hire him in the first place?

Bizarre.

Bizarre.

When I say football man, I'm speaking in terms of someone who grew up watching it and it was very much part of them (like us).

His background isn't that, and it's fine he's a data guy, number cruncher etc.

Mike Maignan rumoured to want a transfer

Could he be the perfect starting keeper to have while Ewan learns his trade for a few years?

Both French as well

Not sure on Maignan's wages though

Yes I get that, I just don't understand why Liam from the journos was saying he's not been impressive, whatever his role is. It still means whoever is hiring these supposedly best in class backroom staff don't appear to know what they are doing.

He wouldn’t be the first bullshitter to sound good in an interview and shit the bed when it came to actually doing the job tbf

Aye but you would like to think whoever is doing the interview would be able to spot that earlier given that's their job.
