NUFC Transfer Rumours

Being honest I'd never heard of Joelinton, Bruno, Botman, Thiaw or even Tonali before we bought them. That probably says more about my poor knowledge of European football like but all the same.

Often depends on how many computer games you play I think, I won the quadruple with Tonali in CM so I really wanted him in

It's just from whichever Champs League games I watch for me. I'm still hoping we sign Patrick Shtick.

Spoiler

Newcastle United are looking into signing exciting young Spanish winger Victor Munoz and believe he would be the perfect replacement for Anthony Gordon.

Newcastle’s recruitment team has tracked Munoz for several months, and he has impressed everyone tasked with rebuilding the squad this summer. The 22-year-old, who has been named in Spain’s World Cup squad, would be an excellent addition if a deal can be agreed.

The Osasuna prospect can play across the front three and is viewed as one of Spain’s best young players. He made 34 appearances in La Liga last season, scoring six goals with two assists.

Although Munoz has predominantly played wide on the left, his versatility makes him an attractive prospect for manager Eddie Howe as Newcastle look to lower the age profile of their first-team squad.

Signing a replacement for Gordon has been a top priority for the last few days and Munoz has emerged as a key target this week.

Newcastle are aware there could be stiff competition for the forward but are trying to thrash out terms with the player and club. Munoz, who started his career at Real Madrid, has a €40m (£34.5m) release clause.

The concern on Tyneside is that other clubs are tracking Munoz but Newcastle have been led to believe the player is interested in a move to St James’ Park during preliminary talks.

Newcastle have also held talks with AIK about possibly signing another winger, Zadok Yohanna. The 18-year-old, who plays on the right, is admired but senior sources denied that Newcastle had a £21m bid accepted for the player on Friday.

Brighton and Chelsea are also chasing the highly rated teenager and Newcastle approached the talks cautiously, wary of being used to spark a bidding war.

They are also conscious that Chelsea beat them to the signing of Joao Pedro last summer after being encouraged to bid for the Brazilian by his representatives.

Newcastle’s recruitment team, led by sporting director Ross Wilson, have been working hard to make their first signing of the summer following the £75m sale of Gordon last week.

They are also in advanced talks with Reims to sign young goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen and the 20-year-old could arrive on Tyneside at the start of next week.

Although reports suggest a fee of £24.2m has been agreed for the France Under-21 international, Newcastle are understood to still be haggling over the price and the structure of performance-related add-ons.

There is growing confidence, though, that a deal will be agreed over the weekend.

Although Jaouen is viewed as a goalkeeper who will immediately compete for the first-choice spot next season Newcastle could still sign another shot-stopper this summer.

That will depend on whether Nick Pope stays at the club. There is interest in the 34-year-old from other Premier League clubs, including Ipswich Town, and sources have told Telegraph Sport the England international has a decision to make.

Pope’s loss of form last season played a big part in the team’s poor league campaign. He was replaced by the equally unconvincing Aaron Ramsdale earlier this year before regaining his place and will have to decide if he wants to fight for the No 1 shirt at Newcastle next season or be a guaranteed starter elsewhere.

If Pope does decide he wants to leave for a new challenge, Newcastle are expected to make a third attempt to sign England international James Trafford from Manchester City.

Need to get it sorted quickly, but a medical is easily arranged regardless. IIRC Gordon had one booked for his abandoned move to Liverpool when he was in the Euros squad.

Also, Craig Hope, Jesus Christ. "NEWCASTLE FACE MASSIVE COMPETITION" - from who? Every single headline/report he drops is brimming with "Don't get your hopes up" subtext.
