NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

Are there any other examples of established players who were bought by a club for a fee that was close to the record British transfer fee for their position, the player was available to play all season but has barely played and then 12 months later they’ve been sold for close to double the money and what would set a hugely increased British record fee for their position ?

We will see what happens with Isak...

Aye, I don’t disagree, I just don’t think we are in a position to spend big on two keepers whilst we have other needs in the squad.

Won't happen but I'd rather but the funds towards Trafford than the French lad if it was one or the other

We won't spend 45m on him and 25m on a backup keeper... Surely?

That's why I assumed Pope would be staying.  But if Pope does go - I guess it's how highly Eddie rates him.

Whatever. If you go to such a club not yet the finished article you pretty much know what you’re signing up for. Of course they were going to make a move when a world class player became available.

There's loads of players who have joined Man City not the finished article and have improved since joining them

Pletti guy says we are definitely after another keeper.

And that’s absolutely fine. He chose that trajectory over becoming first choice for us when we wanted him, so for that reason I’d not pay double what we were quoted at the time for him now, after a year of barely playing.

And what in the world has Trafford done to earn a 45m tag? He doesnt play football..

He's on a longer contract and it isn't a buyback.

He wanted to come to us in the summer of 2024, we didn't put a satisfactory bid in for him.

When we finally put a bid in, Man City promised him to be their number 1. I don't blame him at all

What?

You asked why the fee is double a year later, that's probably why - he's on a longer contract and the asking fee is no longer a previously negotiated buyback fee. None of those two things have anything to do with the market.

If we’re going to buy another keeper to come in and be No.1, it has to be someone older.

It would make zero sense for us in this stage of our development, to be spending pretty significant money on a No.2, to only then spend even more someone that would likely be able to play for a number of years.

I think the price is too high but I don't think it's so outrageously high in modern football

He's an England international who had an exceptional Championship season, has played well for Man City  when he has played and he's still really young. You're going to potentially get at least 10 years out of the future England number 1

We spent £55mil on Elanga. We sold Anderson and Minteh for £35 mil based wholly on potential. We're spending 20 odd million on a French keeper who has never played top flight football

He's probably out of our wage bracket by now, that's the issue I think. Jaouen would be on a lot less and might have as much upside.

I only compare the fees for our players that is linked away to Traffords.
