If Chelsea selling a hotel they already own to themselves is legitimate then something is seriously wrong

It was legitimate, and they’ve had to amend the rules as a result. But that was on the PL not Chelsea.

If we found a valid loophole such as that, I would expect us to use it.

They still haven't amended the rules.

I’d be astonished if we did.  The ownership since day one has shown an intent not only to stay within the rules, but within the spirit of the rules.  I’d be surprised if they’re even looking for loopholes.

Complete speculation: I suspect that as part of getting past the PL FPPT the owners likely agreed to do exactly the above.  ‘Separation’ was obviously bollocks (PIF is a part of the state of KSA).

They still get the ongoing profits from the hotel they 'sold'

Totaly legit, mate.  People always buy a property, accept all the costs and let the previous owner keep all the incoming money in perpetuity

Well the Greek keeper shenanigans was sailing fairly close to the wind (obv not the only club doing that kind of thing) so if that wasn’t a ‘loophole’ as such, it wasn’t far off.

‘Legitimate’ as in according to the PSR rule book, obviously not by any normal, sensible measure.

Agreed, but that was to avoid punishment through something self-inflicted.  I still don’t think it was a coincidence that those with a management contract to manage the club were gone sharpish afterwards.

They also sold their women's team didn't they?

IIRC only 10% of it - for 20m - so valuing it at 200m, which is infinitely beyond ridiculous even for the best team since they had no stadium ownership etc.

More likely to use Mason before we ever tried Jamie tbh. Miles apart in quality.

I get you though.

TBF I can't even think of any of our youth players that we could use this season.

Like a few people my main worry is we have a weaker squad now than before the window started, if the season fizzels out and we don't qualify for Europe we could lose our better players which would mean a huge rebuild and next season turns into write off.

As we stand here now we are in a fantastic position, not building on it is a mistake IMO

There’s a difference between ignoring the rules and finding legitimate ways round them though, which is what Chelsea have done.

And tbf, the whole signing of the Greek keeper was a massive dodge round the rules by us.

Well that Greek thing was clearly dodgy, but didn't actually benefit us......we gave Forest what...90m last I heard to bail them out of a hole and us out of a hole. Still don't understand how it worked....but this Vlachadimos gets 10m more expensive every time he's mentioned

Next season might even turn into a relegation scrap. What if Howe walks? What if the Saudis sell up? We may as well dissolve the club.

Strange response to some very legitimate points.
