Scamacca was £30m rising to £35m for West Ham other season. So would also argue back that it’s just not English players that are overpriced.

Scamacca was overpriced in the end, but he at least is an Italy international.

I don’t think playing for the Azzuri means what it did for most of the last half century or so - and Serie A has surely never been weaker in most people’s lifetimes.

Would love Bowen and think he’s been underrated his entire career but- despite his ability- you can’t be spending 40m+ on 29 year olds in a PSR world. He’d be mint for us though imo.

That Jan window made no sense..Offering 35 million for Soumare but not willingnl to pay half the amount for Bowen..Ended up with Lazaro and Bentaleb.

7 months later when Ashley did spend 14 million it was on Jamal Lewis

We were linked with Ederson at Atalanta last season quite extensively and then he was linked with Liverpool.  Wonder if we'll go back in if we get CL

 

Gonna be an interesting summer as it feels like the first proper one with the new regime. They might scrap all previous targets

We were linked with him when the rumours of us being unable to resign big Joe were happening. CM isn't a priority so I don't see us going in for such an expensive one.

If we get CL then players will be looking at us not just as a club in the champions league but a real champions league club given we were in last season. We’ll also perform much better this time around. It’s absolutely huge for us in our aim of cementing our place as a top four club year on year. I don’t have a clue what our transfer strategy is going to look like this summer though, it’s hard to believe we won’t target three players to come straight into the first 11 but fuck knows if we have the money for that

I think centre mid should be a priority. 

 

We've got our main 3 but the ones behind in Miley, Willock and Longstaff are either unproven or really out of form/poor

I hear you but we can't prioritise a rotational central midfielder over a CB and a RW. Depending on your level of faith in Pope a keeper as well.

I actually thought he was but then got injured and we had to time to waste in the transfer window. Think it was Burnley and our first win under Howe he played well iirc.

That Quansah is a funny one. Seems like Slot took one look at him against Ipswich in the first game, took him off at half time and has tried his best to not play him since. Only 286 minutes in the league with no injuries and Slot’s playing a CM ahead of him at right back now.
