NUFC Transfer Rumours

Why does Alisson keep getting mentioned every few months? Not hard to understand he would not be leaving Liverpool to ever come to us.

I can imagine that Burnley would want closer to 40m for Trafford. (Addons included)

Interesting what they're going to do with him and Mamardashvili, assume neither is gunna accept being #2

Not overly keen on AFCON players and would certanly not want our goalie to leave for AFCON every other season during the hectic xmas schedule (still traumatized from when Ba, Cisse and Tiote went)

Nope. Just don't want a 24 y/o GK from a midtable Ligue 1 team.

It's a Spurs signing.

Could obviously be incredibly wrong.

Was just looking at his FBRef, and got distracted, this Finn Dahmen at Ausberg looks half decent

Rooted to his line at crosses. Had links with Leeds and a few others.

Worked fine for Forest with Selz?

Selz is 30+..... he's seemingly improved crazy this year, he was a weak link last year.

We had him in his mid 20's.... he wasn't very good.

I dunno. I like Pope. Our lack of transfer wokeness has been an advantage for us. I don't want one of these regen keepers that can't handle pressure or a cross.

Yeah, I was just thinking about Burnley’s promotion, but I assume they always knew that was very likely anyway.

Rather we didn't roll the dice on a young French League goalie, especially one who'd be going to AFCONS. There's lots of goalies likely available without having to take that kind of punt. Kelleher (not sure how much better than Pope he'd turn out) Trafford, Lunin from Madrid. On another topic, Kang-in Lee. We were linked a couple times before, seems he may be moved this summer. Would offer real technical quality and attacking threat in attacking midfield and cutting in off the right. Of all the players I can think of, this would massively improve us. Like his work rate too, not afraid to get stuck in. Of course there's a big marketing aspect as well, draw huge attention from Asia.

There's only one keeper who should replace Pope. Marco Carnesecchi. I'll keep saying his name until it happens. Obviously we're not gonna spend £50m on a keeper though.

As Pope is back on form I don’t think GK is our top priority tbh. Would rather go for other options until Trafford is available at a fair price.

I know what you mean. I'm kind of feeling 'all or nothing' with the keeper, don't want us to be like Chelsea have have several who we don't know who is best, don't want us to be like Man U and sacrifice shot stopping for ball playing etc... But I'd be happy for us to go big if we are confident we find our guy for the next 10 years, if not then Pope is fine.

Can't say I've watched Trafford, but find it hard to believe he will be Pope's level at shot stopping, commanding area etc. There's not many super potential keepers it seems, so why aren't loads of other big clubs after Trafford if his potential is high? (could be wrong and he turns out great, he has overperformed his expected saves stat etc)

Joan García looks great from YouTube clips and is wanted by Arsenal and Barca, would love him

I think Trafford is actually superior to Pope in shot stopping. He has similar enormous wingspan, but probably more athleticism.

We’re he’s inferior is commanding the area. I don’t think it’s as much of an issue as some make out, but he’s definitely not at Pope’s level.

And obviously, he’s significantly better with his feet.

Agreed. Mamardashvili seemed perfect because although he's young, he looks much the finished product. It's a bad Valencia team but a big team nonetheless.

I guess I just don't want us to have a GK that has to learn on the job. And Howe is the type of manager to bench a player who needs that indefinitely anyway.

It's a massive deal in the PL. But it's something that can be improved.

Yeah, that 24 y/o CM from a midtable Ligue 1 team we signed a few years ago was a disaster. As was the 23 y/o CB we signed six months later
