I seriously rate Wissa but £50m+ for him at 29 with 1+1 (option) years on contract would be outrageous.

 

I expect something else in the morning much like the Woltemade signing.

 

Beyond that, with the PSR headroom we have specifically for this year (due to nature of how sales are booked on accounting), we should be looking to loan some talent.

For the prices mentioned, they'd cost just a few million less than we paid for our club record signing. Not ideal from the perspective of just wanting to alleviate pressure

At this point, it would be utterly insane not to bring in someone else competent enough, even if we are massively overpaying.

Yeah, I’m not keen on the Wissa singing now. At £35m-£40m to replace Wilson yes, but not at £50m. At that point we might as well take a chance of the likes of Samu, or go and really strengthen in another area, even if we spent a bit of money buying younger players who in 2-3 years time may not be good enough to play for us, but will be good enough to make a decent profit off.

Considering it was Edwards that got the exclusive and also was him saying we were happy to sell even if we don't get a replacement, has me extremely fucking worried. 

 

It's like the Carroll + Kuqi episode all over again but on steroids.

I don't think the club is as idiotic as a lot of folk are making out (not that you said that), and so I expect they've made the Isak deal because they've got a competent transfer already lined up.

We need another striker and there isn't an outstanding option left available. I'd prefer someone nippier than Larsen to complement or provide an alternative to Woltemade. In terms of profile I think Wissa's probably the best bet but he's about to turn 29, overpriced and perversely behaved in precisely the same manner as Isak. Difficult to argue for team harmony or that Isak made his future with us untenable while embracing Wissa, though I think deep down most of us accept that these players are being bloody minded in a bid to eke the most out of their careers financially, and such character concerns don't necessarily translate to their behaviour in the dressing room or their performances out on the pitch.

There is no defending on anything in this scenario. Failure to get another striker in tomorrow is as I said negligence

Likely going to be a hair pullout day of silence tomorrow. Lots of north east correspondence of "everyone at the club is working hard to the wire to get deals done". Towel thrown in by 1pm, Miley loaned out at 6.50pm.

I think fans will definitely start to turn on PIF rightly or wrongly if we come out of tomorrow with nothing. 

 

Will be the first murmurs, banners or what have you of negativity towards them I think. Fans are right to be upset with how this whole thing has been handled.
