I think qualifying for the CL will mean we can invest fairly heavily without selling a purple.

Ive said this a lot recently. I think we can win the league. Or at least get 80 something points if we can add a few more purples. We’ve got players like Isak, Bruno and Tonali that should be winning major titles. Let’s add to them.

This lad is playing so well, chuffed to bits for him. Begs the question...if, and only if, we absolutely had to let a purple go, so we could really kick on with a couple of big signings...is Gordon the one "purple" we could mayyybe let go with how effective Barnes has proven himself to be?

Look at the options Villa currently have. It should become 'normal' for us to have a Barnes or Gordon waiting to come on, as alien as that sounds

I think our starting XI can match any team on our day.

I think we need more Livramentos and Halls to come in instead of our Wilsons and Longstaffs - more £30-40m players, not necessarily the £50m+ starters for big teams.

So that when we do get the inevitable injuries, we have the squad depth to cover and maintain the level. I think if we can get 3 decent players at about £25-30m each this summer, across RW/CM/ST we're good in that regard.

One big hole in our team imo is our keeper. If the rumours about Kelleher are true, I'd hope we're all over that or at least Trafford.

Would rather Pope than Kelleher. I want a new keeper, but not Liverpool’s cup back up

Just so glad for him, as he's been very patient.

Gordon lost his place due to that bit of petulance and the injury afterwards, and this guy has grabbed the opportunity and run with it.

Might be a while before Gordon gets back in.

Quite right. Harvey’s to lose now.

Aye it's the best thing for Gordon long-term imo, learnings to be had for him - restraint, patience, resilience etc.

Feels like typing out my kids' school's values

I think the best squads have legit 15 minimum proper first team players.  Look at arsenals defensive options

Timber

Gabriel

Saliba

White

Calafiori

These are all players that think they should start regularly.  Then you also have

Skelly a top talent then actual backup players like

The Ukrainian lad

Kiwior

In midfield if everyone is fit Merino wouldn’t start.  Can do the same thing for Villa atm. The quality of the squad is deep.

that’s the level we need to get too. We need another purple CM imo. Or at least close to Joelinton level.

We just need more quality. As much as we can get.

that’s more goal contributions than Gordon for the season now in just over half as many minutes

He’s working as hard as Gordon does, and possibly has a more natural strike of the ball.

Nothing possible about it.  He’s a cleaner striker of the ball and a better general technician.

Gordons better physically. But Barnes has closed the gap in terms of work rate.

Not to be that guy, but kinda harsh to rob Guehi of his second goal for us this season.

Is it not Leicester, Man U and tonight they’re on about?

He can have 5 if he wants.

I thought our season was unraveling with that Gordon red. But it has actually improved us!

Go back just a couple of weeks and some on here (a lot) thought it was a good idea to get rid of Barnes for FFP bollocks.  He is better than Gordon.  The management need to sort out this Gordon/Barnes carry on.

I dont want to underestimate Gordon either, he kinda carried us last year. But have been poor for quite some time now.
