Andy84
It was bizarre that the ref immediately had the yellow in his hand.
Bimpy474
Just now, Mazzy said: The most annoying thing about this situation with the Havertz challenge is how quick the ref has the yellow out his pocket. He's got it out a split second after the tackle, whether he thinks that'll calm the Newcastle players down or not? Maybe, but it actually does the opposite and angers Schar and Tripper particularly even more so. I understand he has to make the decision at some point but perhaps he should speak to the linesman or 4th official who were stood a yard or two away first. I think that where refs are now using VAR to confirm it, rather than judge the tackle on it's merits if they're not quite 100% sure, it can be upgraded with VARS help after they've had a look. Crayola Kid
MOTD2 also avoiding any real analysis/judgement! They played the incident, agreed it was difficult, then declared it another bad day for VAR. Something is missing, Arteta failed to say exactly what the error was, and so have the pundits. It would be nice to know what they think we have ‘got away with’.

For anyone who didn’t see it, they spent 15 seconds on whether it was possible to introduce technology to say if the ball went off the pitch, and not much else. They thought it was currently too difficult, btw.
mighty__mag
One of my new favourite things is our lads celebrating tackles, Bruno, Joelinton just before the final whistle on Saturday. Its quality, cracks me up, but shows they take everything seriously.

Jonas
Might be looking at it too much but you never know with this group but for a nothing goal there's a few things possibly going on in it. They've got six back as Willock collects, more than enough, but in the end its Gordon and Jo against Gabriel and the keeper. Murphy comes back, the right thing, which creates space for a run, but also Willock could have sold a few the dummy with the way he shaped to cross and they've come and left themselves open. That defending is a disgrace, embarrassing in a supposed top league.

andycap
They ruffle our feathers to get our players to stop there usual way of playing, it's definitely a tactic they use as they know we have hot headed players in the team. Then the little bastards like martinelli jorginho saka just fall over when slightly touched. To piss the players off even more, then there's the time wasting after about five minutes onwards. Gets the fans riled and players and staff. Cunts the lot of them. Edited November 6, 2023 by andycap

Mazzy
Id be all for bringing in a "sin bin" card. Whereby physical challenges/tackles are still punished with the usual yellow cards but you get a 10 minute sin bin as well for anything that would be considered reckless or dangerous play. Seems unfair you can injure an opposing player who may then have to be substituted or get treatment on the sideslines while the offending player carries on the game. I'm not saying scrap red cards, that would be ridiculous. I'm saying in general a sin bin rule could be put into play alongside the current rules. SUPERTOON
The criticism of VAR over our goal is way over the top considering if there was no VAR for it, the goal would have stood as the ref gave it initially.

Ghandis Flip-Flop
I'd forgotten about Tiote getting sent off for a similar tackle in a cup game a while ago, when he was a good meter in front of the player and nowhere near making contact. The rationale being there was excessive force and it was out of control. So how is it less of an issue when Havertz does the same but just lands a glancing blow on Longstaff's shin? TheBrownBottle
I like being hated by Arsenal and Liverpool and Man Utd, etc etc. You only get like this about rivals. They’re taking us seriously - and so they should.
