Wonder if Mitchell has offered alternatives to Eddie, but Eddie has dug his heels in and knocked back those suggestions.

Not sure how that’s going to work in the future, like. Could be seeing some butting of heads in future transfer windows between the two.

I know they’ve apparently talked things out when they returned from Germany, but I’m still not sure everything is as rosy as they’re making it out to be.

I wonder this too

I’m not ITK… I’m just passing on info that I’ve heard from people on the playing side (and from Guehi’s side). I haven’t got a fucking clue myself what is happening.

But plenty of that stuff has been correct in the past. The Trippier stuff in January. The extent of Botman’s injury and what happened throughout that. The Liverpool Gordon stuff. All of that subsequently came out in the press or from the club afterwards.

I said weeks ago my contact was saying we wouldn’t pay more, we were trying to give them a more acceptable structure.

we were never going near £65m, and rightly so. If we can’t find a CB for £50m in Europe we’re doing a shit job

Fwiw, Troy Deeney thinks he's leaving Palace tomorrow. Apparently they're close.

About as grim as an update as you can get.

Deeney couldn’t find his arse with both hands the clown.

Aye, I was listening when he said that. Obviously Guehi is still open to the idea and those close to him are sharing these titbits.

Clinton Morrison also seemed certain of it the other day.

Some of these ex players do tend to hear this stuff direct from source.

I used to wonder if Sky Sports struck deals with certain clubs to run a deadline day saga each year.

Even though they already knew the deal was essentially done.

If there's a big fuss around Guehi tomorrow before he then moves to us, I will be even further convinced.

Something like this is such a blocker of potential other business though, I would have thought Sky would have preferred to report on who that £75m might be going on and the ramifications of those moves

Final piece of brinkmanship from us today. We’ve briefed we’re about to walk away etc. I can’t see Palace have told us he’s not leaving this window.  I think we will hear stories of dialogue still open, but about 6-7pm it will be he’s staying at Palace

‘Assuming’ it ends up being back on, can they get everything done tomorrow? They obviously have to get the medical and everything done by a certain time im guessing. Haven’t some deals gone over the deadline but still gone through?

If this transfer doesn’t go through, I know that there will be a big supporter inquest into the transfer window.

But I suspect it will in the long term go down as one of the worst pieces of business in football history in terms of Palace - they won’t get near these numbers next summer, when they likely will sell, and every position in the PL is worth c.£3m per placing - so Guehi isn’t worth the likely transfer fee drop off to keep him onboard for a season.  Classic example of cutting your nose to spite your face.

It'd be an absolute knee slapper if Liverpool came in for him.

That smug look on his face just screams “I haven’t a fucking scooby.”

Either that or he’s fishing for phone calls, which is very much TalkSports MO.

Selling him late would leave them short on trying to replace him. Without replacement there could actually be a risk of getting relegated if they sell now. That's on them though, they could've replaced him earlier.
