Instead of looking at the price, look at what we would get. Also no risk whatsoever. We could spend less on some other random dude (say 40m) and that could prove to be a turd in this league. We cannot afford to makes risks financially either. If it costs us an extra day 20m now it’s not that bad considering what we are very likely to get from the player in the next 8 years or so. Going forward we wouldn’t have to spend again to replace him in the team with another player. We can put that money we have towards other positions/academy for the next 8 years instead of taking risks and upgrade player x at RCB two times over if unlucky. He’s quality and versatile as he can play the LCB role equally well.

Not trying to make you look bad, just disagree re the lad’s quality

I would think that Botman-Guehi would be the intended partnership

Aye but Botman will likely not get back to 100% until next season.

I know Eddie loves England. But I thought he liked his big lads too.

Livra Schar Guehi Hall

Thats too small for Eddie I feel.  I guess Kelly balances things out if he comes in for Hall.

Same agent as Gordon, Wilson, Miley, and Lascelles won't hurt mind.

Do we need to send Lascelles around to get the signature

Not getting excited about this. It'd be an amazing coup, but sounds like it's very preliminary stages.

Whiffs of Palace leaking an enquiry to flush out other clubs.

The right attitude IMO.

At least it shows we do have the budget to improve the squad.

I’m dreading the embedded tweet that says the move is off.

Man ... you've got to just enjoy the moment.

The fearfulness over transfers is so unfortunate.

Wow this is quality if it comes off, did not expect this!

Was the Thiaw smokescreen in full working order then?

Depends. This could just as easily be the smokescreen.

His amortisation and wages will cost the club £18-22m per year.  If our FFP position continues to be tight - that’s a massive amount for 1 player.

I don’t see the potential upside on the fee. He’s at peak value.

It was a joke mate, I don’t actually sit around in fear over transfers.

I believe with the comments he has made in the media, the players side of the deal will be a formality. It’s about whether we can agree a price. On a personal level I feel confident we can get this a done.

Yes it is. But it would feel even more massive if it was the same amount for two players that don’t prove to be big hits for us. We know what we get here. It also raises the stature of our club as it’s a bit of a statement signing. It will also help us to attract other players around going forward, even if only slightly.
