"I've looked when we had a few days off at how many long balls we already had to defend - 178 in seven games and then United came and we had to defend 59 long balls.

That's different from the first half of last season. The way to unlock it is a moment of magic, which we had in the first half of last season a lot with Mo [Salah], or a set-piece, which we had at Frankfurt as well, because that again was a low block. But two set-pieces unlocked the game for us."

Slot not being rattled again.

He sounds like he hasn’t got a clue. Incredibly worrying signs for the la’s

Aren't Konate and Van Dijk both 6'4"/6'5" and very good in the air anyway?

You’ve not been following closely enough Checko - other teams have changed their tactics, they’ve changed their goddamn tactics

Agreed.

But what Salah has done after simply being put on the bench is embarrassing.

This is why he usually plays 90 min each game nomatter what. Throws a tantrum everytime he gets benched, and even when he's subbed. It's just to please him. Another lovely dilemma they have now, because they are better off with him on the bench right now. CR7s second stint at Man Utd vibes, let the toxicity begin.

Didnt Guardiola do that a while back , Complain that teams weren't playing against then the way they wanted ?

Xavi used to do the same, honestly until the Dutch moron did it recently I used to think it was mainly a Barcelona thing

Really? That's pretty outrageous. You wouldn't catch Respect FC doing that to teams.

Bruno Fernandes.

Unless A is reserved for Messi and Ronaldo level.

Not just reserved for two players but that level. So Bruno is a B for me. Very good player but just falls short of an A unfortunately.

Villa were 12 points behind Liverpool after 5 games. Technically they can surpass them after 9 if they win by 3 today.[emoji38] Won't happen ofcourse, as they're playing Man City.

Was going to ask ho many As are there in the PL? But realised that was your starting point!

I wonder whether your bar is just too high (may need to ring Ofsted...) If you changed it to Tiers, so say Tier 1 was the top 20 footballers in the world for a position (striker, CM, Wings, FBs, CB, GK), top 50 for a Tier 2, top 100 for tier 3 etc.  How many Tier 1 players are in the PL? I'd guess the majority.

Right now I'd put Haaland, Saliba, Caicedo, and Allison in the A tier. Possibly also Donnarumma. Rodri when he's fit, but that's 1 year ago now. Remains to be seen how good he is when he returns. VvD and Salah has declined a bit. Isak hasn't been good since february.

Surely A IS the top bar?

Never understand how so many of you struggle with some of your favourite players as good as they being classed as B. Still means they are very good players.

Id say the majority would be T2-3 currently. Feel like there’s been a drop off of T1 players recently.

West Ham fans doing a “sit in” protest after our game on Sunday.

If previous home games are anything to go by, there’s normally nee one still there by 70 mins, so that might be an issue.

I haven’t been following anything around them lately - is it a protest about being a bit shit, or something deeper rooted?  I know the dildo brothers were never popular

Over the stadium and generally how poorly they have been ran.

Wew, intense quotes here from another rattled manager

Maresca added: "The three goals we conceded, I think all of them we can avoid. For sure, today we also had a very stupid red card that was completely unnecessary.”

"After the first yellow card I told him [Delap] four or five times to keep calm. But Liam is a player who, when he's on the pitch, is probably playing the game for himself and struggles to realise and listen to those around him."

It’s crazy what a difference a top manager can make on a players career.

Ismaila Sarr was widely acknowledged as a talented player years ago. Was linked to Liverpool heavily for awhile. But for 2-3 years his career just stagnated. But since Glasner’s joined he’s been superb. He’s got such composure and technical ability when it comes to finishing.  He took his goals yesterday superbly. I’m really happy to see him kicking on.

I hope Eddie can do the same with Elanga. Elanga has very different skill set to Sarr but I’m hoping Eddie maximises what Elanga can deliver because he does have talents.
