Well that was boring as sin. It was basically an attack versus defense drill with the bonus of us attempting to not get out of first gear

Couple of things:

The crowd is unbelievably flat, you can tell its was a quickly arranged midweek cup tie.

Almiron is trying too hard, like he's wants to make a point, he's getting into decent positions, but thinking too much about it when he gets there.

Schar's penalties are cool as fuck.

Joelinton has been our weakest player imo.

Longstaff, and I can't stress this enough, can NEVER be our main set piece taker.

I've been frustrated by Tino, watch him make multiple overlaps, multiple good attacking areas to cross, he rarely does so, always looks to another player to provide, it's bizarre, because I know he's got it in him.

Schär and Almiron were good. Need our players to take some risks in possession, try to go past a man or make a risky pass. Hopefully more space in the second half when Wimbledon are forced to push up a bit.

Flat as hell.

Is there a particular reason why, beyond it being a bit of a flat game so far? Worst reaction to a goal I’ve ever seen at St. James’

Easy to moan sitting at home, I know but it’s oddly lifeless.

Probably loads of families who normally can’t get tickets. I hope at least.

So far this is the worst atmosphere I've ever heard at SJP like. Us getting a pen sounded like it was celebrated with eye rolls.

Nowt will change though as we have about 30k who didn't give a fuck they just turn year in year out and refuse to change. Imagine if we made changes and actually got like minded fans together...

Overall we really do lack technical ability.

Yep. Blindingly obvious in games like this where we have so much of the ball but don't know what to do with it. Schar and Kelly have looked the most aggressive going forward which says something.

feel like its a result of us playing a league 2 side and this feels a bit of a formality (though it isn't and shouldn't be)

Possible cold night, big players rested, weaker opposition, lots there but not interested, most of them spend the whole game on their phones whenever I'm there.
