He’s better than Longstaff but that’s not a high bar.

He's started less than half a dozen competitive football games in 12 months man, fucking hell

People saying we’ve done more than enough to lead.. Well obviously we haven’t. Despite that dominance we created very little chances

True that

Exactly......I was expecting a bit of guile and some decent long range shots.

I’m not blaming him, we’re not getting the best of him. He’s essentially a £50m “does a job” at the min.

Tonali is clearly one of our best players and has that star quality. Problem for me is that the tactics don’t suit him. He ends up on the right wing but he needs to be central at all times for me, preferably doing his little first time passes in between the defence and midfield

To be fair as a team that's vocal about wanting to be a top European team I don't think it's too much to expect a good performance and a win to go with it now and then 🤣

Europe means 5-7th for us. What gives a  5th-7th team the right to outplay and comfortably beat a team competing for the same thing?

Didn't go on like that when we finished 4th, don't recall going to games under Keegan against top half sides just expecting to swat them aside.

I thought Tonali looked great tbh. Sharp, incisive, quick. By rights he should've set up a brilliant team goal

Aye.

I’m not. Just don’t know what he brings as an individual. Runs around, tackles… and? Outside of being a “functional” part of the team what individuality does he bring?

We need to play through him, right now we are playing him as a Longstaff upgrade. Get him in the middle and on the ball more.

Poor defending for their 1 chance and goal.

If Isak was sharper we probably would have been a couple ahead. Typical game where you get a sucker punch after dominating.

Hope we have some other ways to approach the 2nd half and get some momentum, because I can see them getting even more dangerous on the counter as we tire.

This place genuinely never fails to amaze me. A nufc forum where a sizable bunch wank themselves silly when we aren't winning and some absolutely insane takes on football from others.

Yeah… it’s not a fitness issue.

You ever played football? Fitness is not the same as match sharpness.

During games we seem to have lots of chances to cross the ball or pull it back and we never seem to have anyone in the right place to attack them, the quality of the balls are sometimes not good but ultimately we just never seem to move to the right areas, it's incredibly frustrating.

It's positioning, Isak plays all over the defensive line not unlike Henry but look at someone like Haaland . His entire game is pretty much a line from the penalty spot with a few yards either side of it . When Isak drifts , Gordon sometimes looks to be more central or Joelinton will run in but it really needs the whole front three to interchange better

Wanted this last game but change things up to a 4-2-3-1. Tonali and Bruno as central midfielders and Gordon playing off Isak with Barnes and some other fucker on the wings. Get some players in attacking positions

Tonali has been class btw.

High intesity, getting back defensively. Some great touch passes including starting that great chance for Isak as memory serves. He and Bruno have been our best players today IMO.
