If Palmer plays, hopefully he plays on the left side so Joelinton can man mark him

Think they preyed on the fact Tonali is new and Palmer would have easier access down that side of our midfield

I know you lads want silverware at all costs. It's the shittiest competition in the top flight of England is my only point. Qualify for Europe and onwards and upwards.

Yes.  We've been winning so many pots of late.  This tinpot one can wait.  Shittiest competition we're in.  Pointless.

Not point in the Europa Conference League, either.  I'm glad we didn't end up qualifying for that and all.

Palmer plays in the 10 and seems to have a free role.  He hasn't played wide for them this season as far as I can tell. He has that uncanny knack of standing still and letting the space find him.

Easier said than done to mark him out of the game.  Especially when we don't have mobile CB's to engage him or a recognised defensive midfielder.  That said, it's hardly just us that has had trouble stopping him.  He wasn't great at Liverpool, but he seems to have an impact on every game he plays.

Would be nice to win a trophy and start that winning feeling for the club, but it's not really comparable to the other major trophies.

We're not winning the Prem any time soon.  The FA Cup will be just as hard as the League Cup, really.  As we're going to end up playing the top sides at some point.  We don't play in Europe and unless it was the Conference League.  I can't see us winning the Europa or CL as it stands

Trophy snobbery from this place.  Well I never.

That Fairs Cup is not really comparable to the other major European trophies.  Surprised we count it, really.

It's not snobbery, I'm not saying we're too good for it. I'm just saying it's not as big a prize as the others, that's just an assessment of the value of each trophy.

I guess I'm also so used to getting knocked out of cups that they don't play a huge part in my thinking.

Yeah you're right, I just mean he was often dropping deep to get the ball and operating on the left hand side / our right side. But yeah he is a number 10 with a free role as you said

Palmer will feature at some stage in this, but I think he might start on the bench.

I still fancy us to win this, said so since the draw. If we won here and at the weekend it'd be a big turnaround for us.

Don't see us going through tomorrow, but we are playing Arsenal at the perfect time with their two CBs out. Their season has revolved around them keeping clean sheets and providing set piece threats.

Pretty confident for this. We're so much better at home and I assume they'll make at least a few changes.

At least a couple of the better teams will be out after this round. Please don't mess it up.

McCooley’s maybe? Depends how you define “nice”.

Somewhere where I won’t feel like I’ll get chinned for watching the Newcastle match in the middle of Liverpool 😅

Anyone know any decent/nice bars in Liverpool to watch this?

Are you a Guinness drinker? If so, the Liffey. Looks naff inside but it's on a main street and has screens so should be no bother. I went in before and after the Everton game earlier this month. Have a deek in the Guinnonces thread to see what I mean.

I am mate, stuck a few photos in there myself! I’ll check it out. As long as the place isn’t a bit ropey then will be sound. Don’t anticipate much celebrating anyway mind .. 😏
