[League Cup Final] Newcastle United Vs. Liverpool - 16/03/25 (Live on ITV & Sky)

Recommended Posts

Weirdly, I wasn't in a cup scheme (nor was it offered at start of the season when I renewed my seasonal hospitality), but I have purchased all cup games barring the arsenal away semi.

Is that still as good as in the cup scheme or a different beast in itself?

If I was in charge of divvying out tickets I'd do this:

If you went to all home cup games and an away cup game - 1st priority

If you went to all home cup games - 2nd priority

For 2nd Priority, a ballot for 50% of tickets and a 10am sale for 50%

And I think that'd be the ticket allocation gone. But if it wasn't, then Priority 3 becomes anyone who attended 3 home cup games and so on

I'd give no priority for ST over Membership for Priority 2, everyone on an even footing. Whereas Priority 1,  by default they will only be ST holders with away points

Difficulty is members who applied for all cup games via Ballot and weren't successful in winning tickets for all games. Feels unfair to exclude them in priority 2, although they still had a decent 2nd chance of getting a ticket via general sale / resale

I get the argument of being unlucky in the ballot but to be honest it hasn't been hard getting tickets in the members sale for these cup games. Significantly more available than premier league games which suggests not as many ST holders as you think have enrolled in the cup scheme. Anyway, whatever will be will be.

There's no easy way of doing it really, I did every game bar Wimbledon at home (actually bought the away fixture) but couldn't do home due to work. If they went all home games first I'd be disappointed doing both away fixtures but guess that can't please everyone.

I would like to see a first period for regular away goers in cup scheme to see if we can get as many together for atmosphere purposes.

Ah fair enough, I seem to remember last time they were ahead. But may be letting my bitterness cloud my thinking

There was no Cup Scheme last time. So different criteria needed. ST only no cup purchase history was pot 5 so hardly prioritised. Members with 1 or more cup history pot 6.  19 games attended Vs 1 or more 🤷🏼‍♂️

I’d imagine the criteria will change depending on the specific cup route to a final. Imagine if you were drawn away every round so only had 1 leg of a semi final at home

It's definitely a tough one, because we've essentially got 4 tiers of regular match goers:

- ST holders with plenty of away points

- ST holders trying to build their away points

- ST holders who don't want to go to away games

- Members who go to all league & cup home games but can't get an ST and therefore can't ever go away even if they want to

In your circumstances it'd be harsh to miss out if you're at away cup games, but had to miss 1 x home cup game.

But on the flip side, I'm a member who goes to every game but couldn't get to the Chelsea cup game due to holidays, so to cover my arse I still bought a ticket and sold it to a friend.

Someone is always going to be pissed off with the way cup final tickets are dished out. But given the current ST lock out, it feels unfair to continue to skew everything towards ST holders when there's thousands of people who are at every home game but can't get an ST, can't join a Cup Scheme and are blocked from ever going to away games too.

POT 1 - ST with Cup Scheme+Arsenal & Forest Away’s
POT 2 - ST with Cup Scheme+Forest Away
POT 3 - ST with Cup Scheme
POT 4 - Members - Wimbledon
POT 5 - Members - Chelsea
POT 6 - Members - Brentford
POT 7 - Members - Arsenal

How does that look?

Arsenal being the outlier here. Wasn't able to get them through ballot or general sale and not many came up after, that I saw at least.

This ignores the huge fuck up the club made during the resale for the Arsenal match, mind.

It's complicated further by ST holders who signed up to the cup scheme but transferred out their tickets and only attended against Brentford and Arsenal. I know a few who did that.

Fair point.

Although I’d reckon what the club are gonna be cautious of is devaluing transferring properly, rather than just forwarding the email with the link to download the ticket.

If it turns out your chances of getting a final ticket are negatively impacted by doing things properly, everyone will just resort to doing the unofficial way (if they don’t already).

That's true, it was a total fuck up

I do wish sometimes that the ST holders could see the rigmarole that members have to go through just to get a home ticket

And then multiply that by 20+ games

Same as someone like me who lives a few miles from from SJP, I probably don't fully appreciate the amount of travel some people have to put in to get to 20+ home games

As fellow comrades we should all be more aware of each others trials and tribulations

I know a few in the cup scheme who didn't go to the Wimbledon game or transfer the ticket , be interesting to see if the club look at if the ticket was actually scanned or purely just on who was in the scheme .

Be surprised if they complicate things to that length tbh.

As I say, I reckon they want to make the cup scheme as attractive as possible, so if it appears that you sign up for it and you get a final ticket, they probably won’t mind that assumption.

As I’ve said before I’m getting a ticket off one of the lads we go with who’s a STH in the cup scheme but can’t go to the final. He transferred his ticket for Wimbledon to me but attended all the others. Should be alright?

I would have thought so.
