Honestly feel if we got this lad I could live without another forward for another season.

Him and Trafford would be sensational- would mean the back 4/keepr unit is potentially sorted for the next 10 years.

What happens when Isak gets injured or inevitably burnt out?

I am working on the theory that Osula will be starting certainly domestic cup games and rotating with Isak anyway.

In terms of an injury to Isak, I hadn't factored that in to be honest  but I guess I'd play Osula and rotate him by sticking either Gordon or Elanga up front.

I see where you’re coming from but it’s a big risk.

It absolutely is, but in the hypothetical I presented myself with I'd take it for the opportunity of getting that defensive unit sorted.

Luckily in reality my binary hypothetical doesn't exist and in reality the club would probably do something cheaper to mitigate that risk (eg DCL on a 2-year contract.)

Osula is a run of games away from unlocking his ability in front of goal. Reckon he fills in nicely for Isak, puts a couple away and he'll fly from there.

Should be almost there but wilson was preferred for subs, which is shocking since he's done nowt in 2 years.

Based on what though? There is no way we can risk Osula being the only Isak back up next season.

Yeah I never understand people who criticise Eddie for not playing Osula. I think it's pretty obvious that currently he is nowhere near good enough at this level to be trusted . Not saying that won't change in the future but a broken Wilson was still clearly a better option than Osula last season .

He clearly wasn't a better option, and Osula would only get better with game time. Wilson was holding him back.

Terrible decision all round Imo.

After the season we've just had Eddie Howe could drink drive through my living room window and I'd find a way not to criticise him

On Osula, he had an impressive U-21 Euros and his progression has been apparent over time when he has appeared for Newcastle. It feels like the natural progression is for him to be getting more game time next season. Especially if he's got the likes of Gordon/Barnes, Elanga, Bruno, Big Joe around him to help him bed in. It's not like he'll be expected to lead the line on his own with Ryan Fraser and Jeff Hendrick supplying the service.

Not sure there's anyone much better out there prepared to come and be second string striker. I could be wrong and this Ekitike thing comes off of course but I think it's unlikely.

I definitely live in some weird parallell universe where some people see something completely different from what I do.

Osula was clearly a better option to Wilson every single time Wilson was subbed on last season simply by being able to run. That he can dribble past players, got a good height to be dangerous on set pieces and has a cracking shot in him are just added bonuses.

Besides, he's never shown us he can't be relied on in his rare appearances. Don't understand where this comes from. Is it because of his personality?

He’s yet to one impressive performance/cameo as a central striker. Every time he has impressed so far, it’s been from the right.

It’s obviously a very limited amount of time to go off, and we can all see the raw talent that’s there, but he’s yet to show it centrally.

I mean, it would be almost impossible for him to have shown it centrally given he played almost no minutes there.

FWIW I don’t really criticise Howe for not playing him, I understand managers have different priorities to fans.

Osula doesn't carry out the plan. On the ball he gets it and runs without looking. Off the ball, his press is directly to the ball, not a to cut off a channel or a man and force the play to an area our team want the ball played to (think in the past teams letting us give the ball to Dummett, recently not cutting off Pope but pressuring him when thevir press made us go there).

Lots of raw talent but still raw.

For me it's a logical flaw. You can't show what you can do if you aren't given the opportunity to show it.

With Wilson gone and Osula being a Howe/Tindall pick they need to show some faith in him. There's always the January window if he's been given plenty of playing time without performing well.

Id say if hes not showing what they want in training he'll not get good game time until he does.
