£30m +£5m seems more than fair given he’s into the last year of his contract. Brentford taking the piss with this one. They did exactly the same to Man U though so it’s to be expected

Two years left. 1 + option

Someone has to go for this disaster. I’m just now sure who yet.

It is understood Giles has held further talks with Newcastle's acting sporting director Andy Howe over the past 24 hours - but a deal is still to be reached.

I’m going to be sick.

Can't blame them though can you? They've already lost Mbuemo. Why give someone a fair price for Wissa? The whole point of them quoting £50m is to fend us off, or if we do pay it, then they can use that money to buy someone as good or better than Wissa.

I'd be raging if we gave Isak to Liverpool for a fair price.

Offer 40M +10M in addons based on making the UCL Quarter finals. We get that far, fair play and here is your 10M.

Still to much, 29 year old with 1 year left on his contract

I’m going to put my neck on the line and say we will sign Wissa… I’m very very confident on this one.

They’re asking for £50m, but have a very unhappy player on their hands who won’t play for them again. We have “walked away / moved on” as a bargaining tactic, and in about a week a deal will all of a sudden be agreed for around £35m ish.

I don’t know why you guys insist on reacting like this to every tweet that gets put out like 😁

 If this is who we are we deserve what's happening to us.

Also, Andy Howe doing the negotiations. :naughty:

Don't let @JT24 see that bit about Andy Howe ;D

Whilst I agree, desperate times require desperate measures. Unless most here are reading the situation wrong and everything is fine.

I think people here are just generally getting a bit delirious with everything that is going on. Briefing media that we are moving on to other targets, after Brentford demand £40m for a 29 year old with a max of 2 years left on his contract and who is currently on strike to force a move, is a perfectly valid negotiating tactic.

"Hi Giles, I'm Andy Howe, nephew of Eddie Howe, Newcastle manager extraordinaire."

"Hi Andy, so about Wissa, we're not going to go lower than £50m."

"Well that's the thing, me and my uncle, Eddie Howe, Newcastle United manager, will not go a penny over £25m"

"It's still £50m."

"Well I think Eddie Howe, my uncle, would stretch to £30m."

"50."

"He's my mam's brother you know, Eddie Howe, he'll go to £35m."

"Thank you for your time, Andy."

Will probably get us our man too, if indeed it's us he wants.

What has happened to the club we all love?

It just qualified for the CL for the 2nd time in 3 years and won its first domestic trophy in 70 years.

Now its having a little trouble on the management side after the CEO being sick with cancer and our sporting director suddenly quit after supposedly clashing with one of our greatest manager ever.
