I meant we can’t afford to lose both for the AFCON.

If we like both players and are offered attractive deals for them, we should not let one month of AFCON in one season dictate our decisions one way or another. Transfers have to be made with an eye on the long term.

They could miss up to 7 league games, and FA Cup tie and the 7th Champions League game. There's no long term strategy in having Osula or Gordon up front for nearly 20% of the League campaign by choice

30M yeah fine, we can make money on him probably but the figures discussed. No chance.

Agreed. I'd take him if he was dirt cheap but he'd be nothing other than a stopgap really. Plus the AFCON thing would bite us in January, I'd just rather we avoided the whole thing and looked elsewhere tbh, he's not really impressed me at all

Or one of them could crash out of the group stages and be back relatively quickly, and we could muddle through the games we have neither with Eddie Howe black magic and all the worry will have been for nothing.

And either way, nobody will care if by some miracle Nicholas Jackson plays five seasons for us and scores a hundred goals (I'm not saying that will happen, but maybe the people at the club think he could). Transfer decisions should be made with the next 4-5 years in mind, not one month of one season.

Disagree about him being a stopgap, I think he’s a very good fit for us. The issue is it means giving a lot of money to Chelsea for an overpriced player given they want rid of him, it’s near the end of the window and he’s got something like 8 years of contract left

A saudi club would give them the money regardless, not worth fretting about.

Its just whether he works for us.

I dont want him at all.  Well sign Wissa.  IF we have to go with just Wissa fine but Chelsea will want insane money and hes bang average.

One of 2 players aged 24 or under to get 10+ league goals in the last 2 seasons. The other being Cole Palmer. Bang average

Genuinely wouldn’t worry about giving Chelsea money. They get plenty of it from elsewhere (including our owners).

Osula another 4 months down the developmental line, Isak possibly still here and starting to be re-integrated into the first team (Liverpool haven't come up with nearly enough money, and if they don't in the next 3 weeks, Isak stays). Jackson and Wissa potential mitigate Isak's lack of involvement in the short/medium term. Just speculating but i suspect our long-term Isak replacement wouldn't be either of those two. Doesn't mean we wouldn't sign them though
