I've been in such a good mood ever since hearing this news, what a difference a day makes. He's an absolute joy to watch and super creative too, what a coup.

Wissa would be the missing piece really and set us up for a potentially very solid season.

Insane's a bit strong.

Every striker we have gone for in this window was a Wilson replacement and/or looking towards a succession post Isak next year. As soon as we got a definitive answer from the meeting with Isak before the Liverpool game we finalised this deal that had been very much on the radar, but on the back burner until that point.

The focus now is likely a more prem experienced striker that could work with him. Someone like Wissa feels a better fit than a Strand Larsen type now.

Don't think insane is too strong. It's like a more extreme version of when we were going for Joao Pedro then went for Isak instead.

Strand Larsen, who I was talking about (and was also an Isak not Wilson replacement as late as yesterday) might have been good, but wasn't hyped or widely wanted and we bid £60m. For £9m more we've signed a striker that's hyped, widely wanted, and Bayern have been after all summer. After the summer we've had, to come out of it signing a player potentially better than all of the players we've missed out on is miraculous, it's mad.

Strand Larsen was never an Isak replacement.

I heard someone saying that he'd flown in tonight because the club are desperate to have him registered in time for Leeds.

Any update on this? Would be incredible to have him already this Saturday

He's staying at The Dakota now.

Sign an experienced forward, wall Alex up underneath the stadium and this is a 10/10 window.

If we sign Wissa as well as big Walt we’ve had a great window imo.

Sign another centre mid as well and it’s been an all timer.

Despite what acne riddled creeps on Twitter would say.

Says who? You've just been talking about "after the meeting on Monday", we bid £60m for Strand Larsen yesterday.

The journalists did the usual. Keeping a story alive by saying it was reported we kept upping the bid by 5m or whatever and Wolves weren't budging. They hadn't a clue.

Waking up to this has my head in an absolute spin mind! Over the moon as it's exactly the kind of move we are forced to make. It's obviously a gamble but ultimately we have to take gambles to kick on.

Kudos to all involved for moving quickly and decisively. Massive props to the player himself for seeing that vacant number 9 shirt and saying I'll have some of that Bayern are flat track Bullys this lad wants to be a mag.

I made the mistake of watching and reading his scouting reports and holy fuck! He looks the real deal and thats BEFORE he gets Howe'd! How have we been allowed to sign this guy? I was aware of him previously but thought he was Bayern bound and even if he wasn't I thought there'd be no way we could land him.

Is this the case of the cartel and the European big guns already having their strikers and this guy having higher ambitions than being a bench warmer?

If this was the strategy all along then it was like playing Russian Roulette with 5 bullets in the chamber.

Okay, so what are you basing what you're saying on?

Bayern were literally doing their nufc impression by dragging things and refusing to pay whilst spending 70m on Luiz Diaz.

They are thick as mince. Any time they have to compete they fold like a pack of cards.

This is well worth a watch, from 3 months ago. A bit of an in-depth analysis of his game and compared with Isak and Ekitike.

Antonio Mango's a decent watch. Initially thought he was a bit of a Sean Casey when I saw him on Loaded, mainly because he was always throwing loads of names around, but with hindsight I think it was more about who he likes rather than who we were after.

Agree with this, of all the strikers linked this summer the only one with a case of having the skillset you'd want +  similar upside going into the future is Ekitike.

Going from everyone accepting you're going to try and get a solid Premier League striker but on the face of it seems to have a limited ceiling to grow to someone Bayern wanted who clearly on a pure skill level is above that and has potential to be something more than solid would qualify as insane to me.

That the meeting with Isak went badly and we couldn't delay on a statement signing.

Strand Larson I reckon was the expensive dog end of the Wilson replacement train that we'd set aside 50m for (or more if like Ekitike, they could become a successor after bedding in).

As such, he may still sign. I'd prefer the more experienced and possibly cheaper Wissa at this point, but would still happily see him in our shirt if mardy arse gets his Liverpool move.
