Did wonder if his first pen was abit of a fluke. I guess that probably answers it. Look great if they come off but there's a reason people don't go that high with pens often as the margins of error is tiny.

Apart from that I thought he tried hard to say was still running hard even in extra time and that assist was perfect.

Clearly suits that role more. Just have to see if we can adapt to it in the long term.

Looks miles better in the number 10 position

Yeah. I hope we see that again at times. I thought we looked better on the ball in general. Found it easier to work space and find a man.

Desperate for us to sign a striker in the summer so we have the option of using this guy at #10

Just can't see us changing from the 3 man midfield we've played for the last 4 and a bit years

I feel bad for him like, he gets a lot of rough treatment, which isn't punished, then the moment he's stronger than someone else the ref gives a free kick.

Don't think he's in great form, but when he manages to get those little pockets of space with movement off him he's great.

He was fine today. Don’t know why people are micro managing everything he does.

That's how things work here, Gordon put a great ball in to grab an assist and put us ahead, then he's shite and should be sold tomorrow for not finishing what looked like a sitter. I say looked because I didn't see if the defender got something on it.

Agree with both. Great assist and missed a sitter. What's your point?

That's why I'd like to see a move to a 3-5-1-1 over time as an alternative rather than the 5-4-1 that we use

Do however have to consider that Tonali or Big Joe could be off in the summer which gives the opportunity to switch it up

See the post I was quoting. People micro every move a player does, see Wolte. Gordon was yet another example.

edit: Seems like you can only be brilliant or shite, nothing in between sometime here.

Okay, I get your point. Apologies if I came across as rude.

His ball for Barnes’s first goal was sublime.

A beautiful pass and definitely something we see very little of in our team - that kind of vision.

Otherwise, I found him poor again. He refuses to attack a header, he rarely sprints into the box to attack a cross and he still jumps with his head under his shoulders.

He needs a to toughen up, play quicker, mix up his game and release the ball earlier.

Technically, he's great - but he needs to grab the game and do more.

He was fine when playing behind Wissa but once he was pushed up front by himself all his limitations as a 9 became apparent. Numerous times in second half we countered with pace on the wings and he was jogging slowly from the centre circle about 20 yards behind, nowhere near the penalty box. Happened loads last 60 minutes and everyone around me was screaming to get forward with some urgency.
