He has definitely been doing that since ~mid-December or so, yeah. Before that though I think we all saw a player who didn't do that. He often played first or second touch passes. So it's about how we get that player back, and trying to analyse what's changed.

He's good like a top prospect since he's joined us he seems to be at rock bottom with his confidence which In turn makes you take extra touches.

Or some people are judging players too harshly in a tired and disjointed squad.

He was excellent at taking the ball and popping it about the first couple of months. Literally nobody in the team can pass a ball now, Tonali has went from "the league's best midfielder" to a carthorse. Its pretty obvious that there's more going on than individuals just being shite.

I agree mostly, yeah.

Ramsey can also receive between the lines. Probably our best at it tbh.

No point having a player like that if our players are unable to play that pass.

Again I think people are bigging up his passing at the start of the season.

He had some nice touches but even when he was scoring goals he was never holding up the ball or looking like a striker

I’m desperate for him to do well, and as a result I cling on to any chink of light he offers in games to convince myself that he’ll come good.

Even I’m now at the point where I don’t believe it’ll work for him here. He’s miles off it in so many ways imo.

It’ll be best for us all if he has a great World Cup and we can offload him for close to what we paid.

Such a shame, so much to like about him as a player and a person.

I dont think his ball control is all that. I mean its decent, but nothing like wow.

Today he reveived the ball way too deep. That isnt suited to him at all. He can clearly play combinations and small flicks around the area. Not shield the ball 50 metres from goal.

he has lot to learn still though. Need to release quicker.

I really don't think it will work with Nick & us given the way we play and the way we continue to play.

We are no longer 3 weeks into the season, the fact we are now pretty much 6 months completed within the league and we still haven't be able to figure out how to use him properly, despite all the talk about not having any time on the training ground, is ridiculous.

Genuinely can't believe he was scouted at all before we bought him, think we just knew he was available and we panicked with the Isak money. He is the least Eddie sort of player I have ever seen, he has zero pace , he isn't strong or physical and he can't remotely press. This isn't even a criticism of the lad at all. He just isn't remotely suited for the way we play, or rather the way we used to play.

The only way he's going to be able to do that in our system is if he plays as a striker but it's like playing with 10 men when he plays up front

He was only having around 20 touches a game but was pulling off pretty outrageous touches and flicks, first time passes, lobbed through balls etc every game. Pretty sure there's a few compilations from around his first 2 months here and he's clearly very good with the ball when on form.

He's been shit and out of form for months now but I'm struggling to think of many players who haven't? Bruno before he was injured, Thiaw and Hall?

Yea I dont see how he fits in our system except 9 or in 4-4-1-1. His lack of pace means he will not play 9 in Howe’s team, at least with efficiency.

in a game like this he could have been 9 the whole second half.

I think it's great in a league where defenders stand off. In the PL you will get roughed up unless you can stand strong, and he gets too easily overwhelmed.

It can be impressive, but some people talk as if he’s Berbatov technically.

Not suited for us at all.. much more at home with a European slower paced style of football.. and goes from 6’ 7” to 5’ 10” when he challenges in the air.. cash in in the summer..

I think he has some nice lay offs and some smart passing like against Spurs and Qarabag, but thats not good ball control for me. Bernardo Silva has great ball control for example.

I think we are getting into semantics here. Probably should have just left it at "He's a big fanny".
