He's been a complete fish out of water here since we pulled the old Wissa-roo on him. Spending a week or so with the German team last week, you know he had to be hearing a lot "you need to come back home and play for Dortmund/Bayern/Whomever". Relatedly, I heard on a podcast this morning that a caller has a "friend of a friend" who works for the team who is certain Nick has told the club that he'd want a transfer if Howe is brought back next year. Despite the air-tight sourcing of this reportage, that actually wouldn't surprise me. which podcast?

We need to get the team back on the pitch so we have something real to talk about.
HMSIllustrious
I somehow don’t buy that, he always spoke highly of Eddie and never moaned about the circumstances. I think it’s a media thing that he has to be upset just so they have something to report about.

Jack14Bojangles
After the international break, I had hoped that Wolte would start as a centre forward against Crystal. A kind of fresh start. I've lost hope that things will work out between Wolte and Toon/Eddie. They just don't seem to be a good fit. Maybe Wolte should be loaned out or sold next season. Personally, I don't want to rush to conclusions. Have to wait to see what the summer brings - but the worries are there.

It is a stain on Howe's credentials as a coach this year - same with Wissa.

Can't keep an underperforming player in the team, just because you invested a lot into them. And we have signed him for the long term, he hasn't even had a pre-season for us yet. Hall and Livra didn't start for a long time because they weren't ready for it.

Eddie has really bottled things spectacularly this season, so do I think it's plausible to say he's misusing Woltemade? Absolutely. Then there's the fact he STARTS, up FRONT, for Germany. Weird thing to happen if he's just crap.

Him starting for Germany means very little these days, and means even less when we're talking about his credentials as a Premier League player. I just think he's shown enough, along with Eddie likely misusing him, to justify at least a second season with a more tactically progressive manager. Perhaps we'll get to see that, I personally sympathise with Howe a bit as I just think it's incredibly difficult to get a system working with Woltemade leading the line in this league. I can't think of another striker in the Premier League, both present and in recent years who has been successful whilst lacking as much as Woltemade is physically and mentally. Think he could have himself a decent career in Italy, Spain or Germany at a decent club, but I don't think he's cut out for this league. He needs far too much accommodating and compensating to be able to contribute.
