You could've told me that's (not Howe) the next Chelsea manager and I'd believe you. He's got the look of a Dutch manager that wins the Dutch league with some obscure team which then lands him a top job.

Not that we heard them and, I guess, our experience would've been totally different if the away section was full on radge. MrsG has announced her liking for the standing malarky. We were on the very back row. View was excellent, tbf. Thought, in flashes, we played some very tidy football. If Wissa had notched that first attempt I think we would've had a field day. Not sure why Tonali is being slighted. We both thought he grafted his bollox off. Miley, Thiaw and Joelinton 10/10 Bruno, supreme. Parked at wor kids flat in Spital Tonges (sp?) so waited for the traffic to fuck off whilst eating fish suppers , from The Canny Cod, in the car. All in all a good day. hope it becomes Groundhog Day. alexf
Another win that was needed but again not quite the performance for me. I'm just looking for evidence in our matches, signs that we can click into gear and push on in the remainder of the season and also give Man City a proper game in that semi final. It was better in parts. But certainly we seem to have lost something this year. I never get that same feeling like we can just turn it on and run over teams for spells like we have in recent seasons. Wissa feels like a more natural fit, but that's mainly down to the fact we haven't really changed or adapted much to Woltemade, so naturally a player closer to Isak style will suit us more. We still only really have Bruno who can thread a pass. Maybe Miley when he can step back into midfield perhaps but we do lack ideas against a low block and the only time we really look decent is when we go full speed chaos if we win the ball high or get a counter. Return of key defenders may help shore up the leaky defense lately (which was improved today and obviously got a clean sheet). Changes at this point feel obvious but remains to be seen if Eddie will want to change it. I'd want Barnes left and Gordon right, to get our best players on the pitch from the start. I think Miley has earned his spot back in midfield if Tino is ready to start again. Also think Nick and Wissa need to be tried together if we are chasing a goal. This is the biggest one for me - if the ‘transition’ is about adapting to Woltemade, then I’ve seen zero evidence to date of a change of style to match him. Agreed 100% that Wissa looks like a much better fit. Woltemade looks like a far more talented Chris Wood at this point - no questions re the lad’s talent or goalscoring ability, but does not suit this system. I think it’s just we’re used to such high standards from him Can never dispute his off the ball, his recovery and sensing danger and making it a non situation is elite, and was again yesterday. But with the poor he was dire yet again, losing it needlessly, poor passes. He’s a £50m+ CM, we need him to be far better with the ball.
Mattoon
Could have been thr best or the worst Christmas present ever, thankfully turned out to be the best. Heading back to Blackpool this afternoon, had a great time down here, Leazes was pretty muted most of the match but me and a couple of other guys around me tried to make enough noise for the whole stand! Had some great interactions, but mostly it was just great to see us win live. I will be back, I've got the bug now.
Lush Vlad
Just realised how good the build up was for the offside goal. I remember how well Tonali did as the last man v Mateta. But I didn’t realise 4-5 passes later was Wissa being played through. We’ve scored some cracking team goals this season. Barca, a couple against Benfica and the last one against USG. This would have been up there with the lot, I reckon. A lot of complaints this season. But I don’t remember loads of really well worked team goals over the seasons under Howe. So it‘s great to see and guessing it is to do with chemistry between certain players and our passing patterns.
