Not always convincing bit for all the watching through my fingers when they broke through our midfield or every deflection landed to them, they created absolutely nothing.

The most pleasing thing for me was that when we went 2 up, we remembered that we're actually a really good team and looked much more confident for it.

Pope: 7

Miley: 8.5

Thiaw: 9

Schär: 8

Hall: 6

Bruno: 8

Tonali: 6

Joelinton: 7.5

Murphy: 6

Wissa: 7

Gordon: 7

Pino meant to be their Eze replacement? 19 caps for Spain and big reputation.  Was pap. Pap every time I watch them.

Barnes will be rewarded for such a great cameo with the bench spot at leeds.

Baffling why Howe doesn't see it to play Barnes on the left and he insists on trusting Gordon. Barnes deserves a run of games on the left atleast.

He's so dangerous and direct. Creating so many chances. He makes the whole team just better.

Stick Gordon on the right.

Thats a really big win, and one that we deserved ultimately. It was a very solid, if unspectacular performance, that felt very "professional", we knew what we needed to do, and did it. As the game went on, particularly after we scored, you could see the confidence come back to the players, hopefully we can carry that into the Leeds and Wolves games. Miley was player of the match, his close control and short passing ability is slowly becoming elite, to think people wanted to loan him out 3 months back. Bruno, was just Bruno, Thaiw absolutely bullied Mateta all game, and Joelinton and Tonali looked like they where getting their game back.

As an aside, I don't know if its just bias, but I feel like we always look better when Barnes is on the left, his final ball and finish was lacking today, but the runs he makes are really intelligent and can lead to some decent opening. Thats not to say I thought Gordon was poor, I thought he had an alright game, but we just seem more cohesive with Barnes in that spot.

Overall, a good day at the office that puts us into a decent position.

Joelinton MOTM for me.

He was good, buy I laughed when he pulled the ball down on his chest with no Palace player him and just slid it straight to one of them.

Bridges kept saying that Glasner's changes at HT had worked and in real time I was like... in what way? We've had all of the play 2nd half. Glad that's backed up:

Pretty dominant in terms of control really imo, just sloppy at times as usual.

It's a horrendously flawed metric that, that you and the stat nonces love to use for your viewpoints.

How's it work? How often the ball goes forward? Or what?

Thought we were pretty good in the first half - we started out playing very direct football through the midfield and created chances, while they only really threatened through Hughes at the end of the half - then got better in the second and kept at it even after going ahead. It was a bit like pinball at times but we did well and Wissa, while sometimes a bit clumsy, obviously allows us to play in another way.

It’s looks so good for the future that we’ve got a nineteen year old midfielder, playing at right back, that is so composed on the ball and finds team mates with simple, early passes. Especially when the rest of our midfield with older and more experienced players has been struggling to do just that.

Hall and Tonali being incredibly sloppy.

Hall was fairly below today, yeah, it’s par for the course for Tonali, unfortunately. He did ping two amazing passes first half and was defensively top, though.

Delighted with that, feels like a big win. The nature of it more than anything. We took total control once we scored, something we have struggled to do all season.

Great start to a very big month.

3 points and hopefully another 3 on Wednesday. More relieved than anything else. we did a lot right but just the final decision making let's us down.

Thiaw immense again, BigJoe was very good, Bruno with a captains performance but my MoM is Miley. They doubled up on him in the first half but he kept composure and was instrumental in the 2nd half. What a star we have on our hands.

Tonali was schooled by Wharton and somethings not right with him. With defenders coming back to fitness, move Miley to midfield for a deserved extended run.

Wissa offers so much more with his running and movement. His fitness is crucial to any potential run up the league.

Tonali's developed this weird habit of treating passes to him that clearly aren't one-twos as one-twos. The passing that involves him is quite often really chaotic.

Hope he just needs a bit of a rest and it's a form thing.

Honestly begging for us to play Gordon RW and Barnes LW. It’s our best 2 and I think Gordon has a fantastic delivery with his right foot and could burn everyone with his pace.

Tough game.Harvey Barnes making a big diffrence although they were getting stretched on that side just before the changes with Hall on the overlap.Great to see Big Joe running with the ball at full pace again,Hell of a sight

Chuffed with result

Lewis Miley,I read a month or two ago in his thread about sending him on loan to the championship for some reason. He’s making a few senior pro’s look like kids to be fair.Future Captain with 500+ games for The Toon

Re: Hall...he has been playing non stop at a very high level so perhaps expected that he would drop off a bit. Glad we seeing some defenders coming back so others can have a rest.
