Now the anger about the decisions has died down a bit, can we appreciate this as a good performance away at a difficult opponent?

You'll have to do this manually without stats etc., because they were credited with an illegal goal.

The one stat I'll mention is that Villa's home record in the league this year is W9 D1 L3.

Before I cancel my account I want to thank everyone on here that contributes. It's a great forum and has helped me massively.

I am leaving as I received a warning from Yorkie for my last message because I called someone a complete idiot. I've come across some lovely characters on here. Take care all.

Don’t do it man. We’ll miss you.

Always difficult to gauge a performance with the extra man but I thought it was an even game in first half against a decent villa side away from home. Our control of the ball looked far better in a 4-2-3-1.

Not quite understanding the villa take that they controlled the game before the red card. I will accept however that Rogers looked superb on the ball and is a fantastic player.

I thought they looked the more dangerous 11 v 11 Rogers in particular finding loads of space. When we got forward like alot of games this season we looked a little toothless barnes well wide, whatever osulas rugby kick was meant to be etc.

But in terms of handling pressure and keeping territory I thought it was very even. Much better than the showing we mustered against them only weeks prior.

Cliche I know but sometimes playing against a team a man down can actually be harder. Can galvanise them and close up gaps that wouldnt be there normally, more freedom for their (grudgingly talented) players to find space they wouldnt normally have had.

Yeah, I thought that was bollocks, as was the criticism of our defence for not covering someone who was offside. Claiming Villa were better than us for scoring an offside goal, getting away with hacking Hall down in the box, and getting away with the Digne red was a weird take. A lot of commentary just seems to be saying what they think casual neutral fans want to hear.

As a direct-ish* comparison  we looked a lot better trying to break down the 10 than we did on the opening day. Moved the ball a lot quicker and stretched/wore down the defence. Was very slow and flat back in August.

* yeah I know the personnel in Villa's defence was different before someone points that out
