Superior Acuña
Staying obv. So much will depend on the day. Remember a lot staying in 05 when we finished 14th under Souness, despite the previous year’s walkout, cos we got a draw against champions (on the beach) Chelsea. nufcjb
This thread deserves to be in the absolute pits or somehwere more apt, ie RTG. You want an sparsley empty and meek level of appreciation? LFEE
21 hours ago, joeyt said: I'll absolutely be staying. These lads have tried their hearts out for a number of seasons for us. We've played Champions League football and got to another League Cup semi. It will be the final chance to applaud someone like Trippier who was a transformational signing and probably others who will leave in the summer. We don't demand a team that wins, we demand a team that tries. Let's not forget how much we've fallen back in love with our football club because of a ropey season This in short… You’d think we’d been getting battered off everyone all season the way the reactions have been this season. Barcelona 45mins, Liverpool 45mins, Man City in one of the cup games maybe 45mins and Brentford at a stretch 45mins. Those aside I felt like the team was in every game it’s played. Might’ve missed one as been so many games! My dad used to say Every team gets a heavy beating once a season, even the best of them when they don’t turn up from minute one. We’ve got pretty close to avoiding that.
Jonas
Bygones are bygones once the whistle goes on the season. Be a long time before anybody's back and a time people can ride out any slight delays in the commute for once. Used to always feel a bit sad to leave after that last game, like the last day at school. That Wolves game aside. Having said that I wish they wouldn't do this stuff unless there's actually something to celebrate. Just all gather in the middle and acknowledge the crowd from there, and vice versa, longer than normal would be my preference - saves any debate and embarrassment. Once the ref blows for FT that's a line drawn under the season (at home anyway). If you think their efforts for the season deserve a further 20 mins or so of your time to wait back and say thanks then that's what you should do. If you don't then that's fine and get yourself on your way back to the pub and beat the queues. Personal choice really. As long as no daft twats boo (regardless of the result) I don't see an issue. I'd reckon around 30k or so will remain in their seats after FT. I Don't expect we'll get a repeat of SBRs last season after that Wolves game when fewer than 10k stayed back after a 5th placed finish. I think there's more goodwill for this team than that one. Wolfcastle
I think the vast majority will stay but it will be one of those where as soon as they're past your bit, almost everyone will be off, rather than waiting for them to go down the tunnel like used to be the case. Used to be quite entertainment watching the interactions with the other stands and trying to read body language indicating it was players farewell and stuff. Hovagod
Don’t think I have ever once stayed for one.
Chicken Dancer
A lot will depend on the result too like. If we lose and play like shit I suspect loads will fuck off, especially with Sunday service on public transport.
RobsonsWonderland
Seems we are not quite the loyalist supporters the world has ever seen ? Thank god we didn't lose otherwise the early queues for the bar or bus would have been a nightmare
geordiesteve710
Couldn't make it today but if I was there I'd have stayed to clap them off as I do after most games. For the record I'm very much against them unless it's the very last game of the season- sends out the wrong mental message when there's still a game at Fulham next week. And yes I'm aware that makes me a grumpy old so-and-so Edited May 17 by geordiesteve710 .
Vedder
They always take ages to get going too. Really drags on, just do a quick lap and get off.
AyeDubbleYoo
It was decent like, plenty of people stayed.
Wallsendmag
As I predicted. About 30k stayed back.
Danh1
I didn’t think it was a bad turn out (or stay back) tbh. Probably more there than the Brighton game in Howe’s second full season. Do think winning helped obviously.
BUJ
Update! I departed immediately after the full time whistle. Metro waiting to depart. Home 25 mins later.
