There are very few occasions where I would actively want us to lose. To stop Sunderland winning the league, or be relegated possibly. As long as it didn't have any substantial impact on our season obviously.

There are occasions where a loss would be more palatable than usual, tomorrow is one of those. But I still absolutely definitely want us to win.

I want us to win as well, mainly because we badly need some positivity heading into the summer.

In my eyes, Eddie Howe is a dead man walking anyway because:

a) the football has been figured out. The game has moved on, while Eddie still feels stuck on the platform with the same rigid ideas.

b) history tells us there are very few examples of managers turning a genuinely poor league season into something completely different the following year.

c) even Howe’s own Bournemouth spell showed that once things started going wrong, he struggled to pull it back, and so far he hasn’t shown in Newcastle that he can break out of these spirals either.

I honestly think he’ll be gone before Christmas regardless. But it would still be completely toxic to head into the summer without at least some illusion that next season might work out. That illusion disappears pretty quickly if we finish with another home defeat, especially against a weak West Ham side.

Fingers crossed.

Can’t comprehend how anyone can want us to lose

Bigger picture. Nowt to play for and as shite as Spurs have been the last couple of years I'd rather be competing against West Ham than them next season.

Plus I despise Spurs as they were the main agitators in getting our takeover blocked.

Maybe its the rain right now and weather generally lately but think it will go like this

We'll win comfortably and it'll be apparent from early on and there will be no drama.

Just shades of playing Palace in 95 when they needed a win to stay up. Was all over after 30minutes. I was kinda looking for some drama and tension.

I've also recalled the last day against Hull after a miserable season in the bad days. They were already down, beat us, but nobody really cared. It was like a testimonial dick-around really and the atmosphere towards the end quite bubbly after news of the mackems being relegated drifted through. You couldn't say anybody there in those days wasn't a real fan.

Wouldn’t care if we lost, I stopped caring a good few losses ago. Then we had an incentive to win, Europe. We’ve played like league 2 strugglers and we’ll stay up. I don’t care if we get a fluke win or even play well for the last 2 games. Means little compared to a cartel club going down.

Aye, heading down the club now for pool and cheaper pints before heading into town about half 2 for not so cheap pints.

Lovely. Gosforth high street and then Strawberry for us. Looking forward to standing, trying to get served in the Strawberry for 20 minutes. Hopefully it won't be my round. 😄

On my way into town now meeting family and mates. There's a ticket there for me if I want it transfered over but not sure if I can justify £55 for a dead rubber that I can stay in the pub and watch for nowt. Only thing tempting me is it's Trippiers last appearance at SJP. No doubt I'll end up taking it when I'm 6 or 7 pints deep.

Never matters what happened in the last game, by the time the next game comes round it's like I have temporary amnesia and I'm just looking forward to the football and thinking we're gonna batter these! Cyyyyyomonnn!
